Sleep sack

Hi all! I purchased a sleep sack today for my little one, as she's always kicking off her blankets and I'm paranoid about them going over her head! Confused(I woke up with a start one morning and they were! She's always in feet to foot position etc) She's 9 weeks but she's very long!
Im sorry if this sounds really thick but I don't know! Blush
Do you put baby in the sleep sack awake or when they're asleep? I tend to breastfeed her until she's asleep then my OH puts her down in her cot. Also can I feed her in the night whilst she's still in it, or do I take her out? Thank you!

Put her in it before you feed her and you only take them out in the morning/to change a nappy overnight.

I much preferred them to blankets as they felt much safer to me!

I preferred sleep sacks - put them in when getting ready for bed, and leave them in until the morning (best ones are those you can open from the bottom for nappy changes).

Just be sure to check the temperature/clothing guide that comes with them to ensure you're not overheating your baby by adding too many layers. A room thermometer is useful for this as it takes out the guesswork.

We use sleep sacks, love them as I was worried about him wriggling under a blanket and now about him being cold as he's all over the bed. The sack should have a weight guideline on them. We used them from birth as he met the weight minimum. We go the bedtime routine and put him in his sack ready for sleep otherwise you disturb them putting it on.

I used blankets when DD for the first couple of months as she was too small for a sleepbag.
But I wouldnt be without one of the bags now. Our routine is bath, dry, put on PJ's, into sleepbag and give bottle then into bed.
Check the temperature of your room before choosing the sleepbag for the evening as they all have different tog ratings (take into consideration rooms cool overnight).

If you feel baby is slipping down inside the bag check the weight guidelines for the brand you have (should have been attached with a tag when you bought it or check online). Some are only made for babies over a specific weight hence we couldnt use them initially.
Personally i think theyre a godsend as I know how much DD rolls about in the night and I know she cant kick a bag off and get cold.
As soon as her bag is zipped up she calms down and sucks her thumb ready for bed.

I used sleep sacks with DS1 from 1 week until about 3 years (ones with feet). DS2 is now in the one he had. They are amazing and very helpful for taking baby upstairs to bed. I put the sleeping bag on when I do the last nappy change, at the moment DS feeds to sleep at night time so he wears it when feeding, then I carry him up when I go to bed and put him in his cot. If he wakes in the night I leave it on to feed, and just unzip the bottom to change nappy if needed. Then just take it off in the morning.

With my older DS we made it part of the bedtime routine so into pjs, then into sleep sack for story time, so it became another cue for bedtime.

There are different sizes and togs so you can find the right one for your baby and house. DS is currently in a 2.5 tog and seems cosy but not too hot.

Feed one side. Nappy change; put sack on and feed other side. Same for night feeds.

When they get older and don't need a midnight nappy change I started leaving him in it for feeds.
