Horses and babies tips

Hey all,

I have a retired old horse who is kept at a lovely grass DIY livery. I'm responsible for pooh picking his field, feeding and rugs. I've taken care of him through my pregnancy and since having my baby (my parents have kindly helped when I was unable to get to the farm).
My DD is now just over 6 months old and she's gone from napping in the pram at the farm while I do my horse to being in a sling. Now she's getting bigger it's harder to have her in the sling.

Do any other horsey mums have any advice on how they managed with baby and horse? I'm worried it's going to be so much harder as we approach winter.

My parents are great but they are away for the next month and my husband works full time.

Thanks for any advice or comments x

Back carry? You should be able to carry for far longer do you when you switch to back.

Absolutely back carry, you can carry her that way for a few years yet!

Try a sling library near you (or a postal hire if there isn't one nearby) to try some options as everything fits differently for different people- eg you might not want a woven if you're worried about the tails getting dirty while you're wrapping at the livery, or a more structured carrier might not fit your body shape in a comfortable way.

Back carry sling and get a travel cot/playpen so you have a safe place to put her down in. I have a 16 month old and a few months ago moved my horse from full livery to a field/stable of our own and its been a big change but it is possible, we've made it work :)
