Do you think the washable/cotton reusable cloths are better than wipes?

I love my reusable wipes. Still use some disposables when out/for poo but much prefer the cloth ones :)

JustJade · 04/10/2022 14:14

which resuable wipes do you use if you don't mind me asking?

I love our cheeky wipes. They are so much better at wiping! I use disposables when out and about but at home there is no comparison, reusable are a million times better at doing the job and well worth the money.

Yes I still use our cheeky wipes for mucky faces and hands and my baby is now 4! One of our best baby buys.

WalkiesAndBiscuits · 04/10/2022 14:18

I LOVE REUSABLE WIPES!!!!! They get the poo off so much easier and I hate when you try to pull out one disposable wipe and get a million instead. When I use disposable wipes (eg hospital stay) I get through the packet so quickly it would cost me a fortune to use them full time. I use cheeky wipes but I’ve never tried a different brand for comparison. I love reusable nappies too - so easy and lovely patterns 😊

Eileen101 · 04/10/2022 14:19

So much better!!!

When our wet bag started being not waterproof anymore, we ended up having to use disposable wipes when out of the house and I loathe them, they're so flimsy feeling in comparison!

Pinkandpurplehairedlady · 04/10/2022 14:19

I used cheeky wipes when my DS was a baby - 11 years later and they are still going strong and I use them to wash my face:) Well worth the investment.

LunaNova · 04/10/2022 14:33

We love our cheeky wipes! DD is now potty trained but they're still in constant use for faces/hands/spills.

Top tip for cheeky wipes: pick up one of those sandwich Tupperware (the square ones designed to fit a single sandwich in), they're the perfect size to cart pre-moistened cheeky wipes around in your nappy bag rather than a wet bag!

Violettaa · 04/10/2022 14:39

100% reusable. They’re great.

If I was buying them again, though, I’d just get small flannels and Tupperware to keep them in. Cheeky Wipes are great, but extortionate for what they are.

these ones are amazing

PurBal · 05/10/2022 06:09

Yes. So much better. We use Muslinz, bigger than other brands.

HappyAsASandboy · 05/10/2022 06:29

I hate disposable baby wipes. They're slimey, they smell, they come out of the packet all stuck together in a line (if you can even get the first one out with one hand while you're wrestling a poo-covered toddler with the other hand ......

Cloth wipes are great. You use 1 or 2 instead of eleventy million because the don't stick together and they actually remove poo rather than smear it around. They smell of nothing. They wash and dry easily, an a neatly stacked stack of wipes is a beautiful thing Smile

I use them for make up too. And face cloths for the kids. And cleaning the high chair after I've wiped the baby. And general cleaning (they don't shed lint so I use them for the shower screen).

I keep all my wipes/tea towels/dish cloths/cleaning cloths etc to one side and then give them 1hr at 60° on their own with a half dose of bio powder, then add in my light/pale/white washing (no towels or sheets though, they're too big) and do a normal 2hr ish 40° load with Bio powder. That way I KNOW they're clean and I can use all wipes for any job!

greenacrylicpaint · 05/10/2022 06:34

my dc are teens now...
but one ofy dc reacted badly to all easily available wipes.
so we bought a stack of flannels. and used those with warm water.
flannels & ziplock bags & warm water in a flask for out and about.

cloths work a lot better to clean the bottom as well.

we still have some of the flannels in use.

Porridgeislife · 05/10/2022 06:42

Cheeky Wipes are amazing. They deal with even the biggest of poo explosions without baby needing a bath. We’ve used them since day 1.

The other benefit is less nappy rash as you can get your baby’s skin cleaner than with wipes & less chemicals. We’ve never opened the tube of nappy rash cream I bought in pregnancy, even with disposable nappies.

RoachTheHorse · 05/10/2022 07:03

I still use my cheeky wipes and my kids are 10 and 7 🤣. They were great for babies, then for the table for faces and hands, now they are in the bathroom drawer for wiping the sink or using on your face.

I've lost a few over the years but they're one of the best investments I made for them as babies.

FrozenGhost · 05/10/2022 19:57

I like reusable as well. I don't buy a particular brand, I just buy normal flannels. That's all they are.

Esssa · 05/10/2022 20:04

Not a fan of the cheeky wipes I have. They are too rough for my liking. I do like the Aldi's mamia reusable wipes though. Much better than disposable wipes that smear rather than remove dirt.

GiantCheeseMonster · 05/10/2022 20:16

Cheeky wipes all the way. I tried and failed to use washable nappies but I found washable wipes amazing and kept them for years after to use as cloths.

SamanthaVimes · 05/10/2022 20:22

I really rate cheeky wipes. I take disposables for out of the house but they’re soooo much worse at cleaning poo. They just seem to smear it about whereas the reusable wipes pick it up much faster (I assume because of the texture)

I would definitely recommend getting reusables.

I've often wondered this, so you use the same one for poos and faces? I was thinking about this but not sure I'm brave enough!
OP cheeky wipes are brilliant

TheBirdintheCave · 05/10/2022 21:07

Yes, cloth wipes are brilliant as are cloth nappies :)

IScreamMonday · 05/10/2022 21:12

Reusable are great. We had different ones for bums and face/hands. Gave the bum ones away with reusable nappies when last DS toilet trained but still using the others

Random789 · 05/10/2022 21:13

Reusable wipes? Is that not just flannels??

Finchgold · 05/10/2022 21:19

I used ikea kids face cloths. Bargain compared to cheeky wipes.

QueenOfWeeds · 26/10/2022 09:27

Can I jump on this and ask if there is any advantage to white over colourful ones? My gut instinct is that white is a ridiculous colour - my baby is due in winter, so anticipating limited opportunities for bleaching in the sun on the washing line.
