We've been using it for a while but I'm sure it's not thick enough

Lo has been quite sick lately and she's just upped her feed to 6oz

We we're doing one scoop but the instructions on the packet are so confusing!

Thanks for reading x

Hi I used to use half the amount of scoops to formula so for 6oz I'd use 3 scoops of carobel.
Then once he went to 7oz I'd put 3.5scoops of carobel etc
I did find that I had to pretty much go up to a size 3 teet though as it wouldn't come out the size 1, then was struggling to come out of size 2

We use Doctor Browns bottles and have also had to go to a size 3 teat when using carobel. Whilst our LO was under 2.5 months we used very little carobel (partly experimenting and hadn't ramped up fully yet). But even at half a scoop we were having to switch to size 3 teats during the feed, as size 2 would start okay, and then the milk would stop flowing as it got thicker. We are at a little under 1 scoop of Carobel so far in 130mls of formula, and now use size 3 teat throughout. (120mls is 4 ounces roughly). But I'm going to increase to a full scoop in the same amount of mls as she still doesn't eat as much in these bottles as when she has gaviscon in the bottle. So I guess the equivalent would be 1.5 scoops of carobel in 6 ounces for the larger feed. But just experiment. You want to start with smaller amounts of carobel and work your way up to whatever your baby needs without going over the maximum allowable amount. This will be different for all babies depending on their own reflux.

Just in case anyone reading doesn't know, you can never use carobel and gaviscon in the same bottle as they both thicken the formula. However you can only use gaviscon 6 times a day and no more than every 4 hours, and our baby feeds more frequently than that so we often switch out every other bottle for carobel. We've now seen 2 doctors and reported it to them and they think it's fine but check with your own. There's nothing written about alternating anywhere but for young babies who eat frequently im not sure what else you would do, as at least with our baby shes in so much pain with reflux she can only get to a third of a bottle without a thickener. We figure as long as it's been at least 2 hours then the prior bottle has had a lot of time to digest anyway.
