Time off after first MMR jab?

My nearly 14 month old is having his MMR/1 year old jabs on Thursday morning. He reacted really strongly to all his baby jabs (fever, days of crying). I'm wondering if I need to definitely take Friday off work and keep him off nursery that day as well, or are some babies fine? I've read symptoms often show up a week later? Thanks in advance for experiences.

I think if you know he reacted badly I would take a day off just to be on the safe side and would maybe save you some stress leading up to it.

My child was fine tbh just wanted cuddles for the rest of the day but they are all different

IME the 12 month jabs are very different to the earlier jabs, as their body is much bigger and copes better. Mine were fine straight after. DS had a slight temperature for a few hours several days later. So personally I don't think you need time off this time round.

Ime the 12 month jabs are different to the others. The side effects can follow the incubation periods for the diseases immunised against. My daughter was fine immediately afterwards but had a couple of days of wailing, being uncomfortable and throwing up 2-3 weeks later. Which coincided with us going on holiday. That was a fun flight....

All of mine reacted to the MMR. But all a week later rather than immediately/day after as they did with their earlier jabs.

Normally nurseries have a 24hr policy in place regarding any vaccinations- so child can't do in. This is because of adverse affects that may be delayed. But check with nursery.

But apart front that- you know your baby best. X

Thanks everyone. It's tomorrow! I've decided to see how he is rather than taking the day off in advance.
