Sleepyhead/Dokatot

Hi,
I am expecting my 3rd baby. We used the sleepyhead in the crib next to me from newborn as it was then approved for overnight sleeping. They both slept like a dream.
Ive just looked at the sleepyhead and it’s changed to a dokatot and it now says it’s not suitable for overnight sleeping.
Have they changed the design of it? Does anyone use it for overnight sleeping?

They’re not recommended at all, never mind for overnight sleeping. Guidance updates all the time. Have a look at the Lullaby trust.

They are dangerous. Babies should sleep on a firm flat surface to reduce the risk of suffocation or SIDS.

They should only ever be used for supervised sleep as they have raised padded edges that aren't considered safe

They were never suitable for sleep, they're a suffocation risk.

Not safe and never have been.
Look at the lullaby trust for sleeping advice.

Ok thank you. Just wondered why the guidance has changed on them as it was fine before.

It was never officially approved for anything, they had misleading marketing which made it sound like it was fine for overnight sleep but actually it never has been. I think some legal thing came in to make them be a bit more explicit about it and that's the only change.

The chances are really low that anything would happen but I do think it's good that they are being more clear about the safety of it.

Look at the purlflo version instead - safe for overnight sleeping

dementedpixie · 28/09/2022 17:23

None of them are safe for overnight sleeping if they have raised padded edges. None are recommended by the Lullaby trust

Thank you! Have just looked at it x
