Nappy Rash in toddler

DS is almost 2 and has never really had nappy rash before. Hes had the odd little bit of redness now and again that’s cleared up the same day with a bit of Metanium cream. Usually happens when he’s gut teeth coming through.

Yesterday morning he developed really red and sore looking nappy rash. He cries and tells me it’s sore as soon as I wipe him 😓 it’s still the same tonight.

His nappy is changed regularly and he tells us when he’s done a wee or poo so it’s changed immediately, especially when he’s dirty.

He’s had no new foods and is using the same wipes/nappies/creams/bath stuff as he’s always used so I don’t think it’s any kind of reaction.

He has had looser stools over the last 24/48 hours but other wise is absolutely fine in himself.

Is there anything else that could be causing it?! And any other recommendations for clearing it up?

Im using his normal yellow metanium and the barrier cream when he’s wearing a nappy and I’m obviously keeping him as clean and dry as possible. I’ve been giving him as much nappy free time as I can too.

These things happen sometimes. My boy's rashes usually clear up by the next change, but the other week he had a VERY bad one that took a couple days to go.

Sudocream is what I recommend. It's like magic

Is he teething? Can make their stool quite acidic hence the nappy rash. Recommend sudocream too.

@ChildWontStopGrowing Thank you! 😊

@Vicky1989x I actually don’t think he is at the moment but I could be wrong! He’s 23 months and has all his teeth apart from the very back set of molars.

He’s had some nappy free time tonight and is currently sound asleep with Sudocream on 👍🏻

Nappy free time is the way forward and if you have carpets, some loose pants made out of cotton

wash dry, patter dry with cotton towels

Reading what you have posted you remind me of my wife looking after our kids over 30 years ago when we had real nappeis and we used liners

Even with the best will in the world and excellent practice at times chidren will get a light rash

If its really bad use manuka medical honey gel. Only available in health food shops. After it clears up vaselin as a prevention is great

Lots of no nappy time
is the key. Also if you can go back to cotton wool and water for cleaning.

If any of the rash is like pitted red blisters then it’s fungal and baby needs to see doc.

i hope it clears up soon.

i would buy Mummys magic nappy care spray it is the best of them all, got no chemicals in it unlike all the others and it is so easy in a spray, I used it for Ells
chickenpox too and it was great, stopped the itch and scar, I only found out as i read about it as Danielle Lloyd swears by it for her kids, I bought off Amazon but you can off the Instagram page mummysmagicltd.

Bepanthen works amazingly for nappy rash. I found metanium and sudocream too drying and didn't really help to heal just covered it.

Also plenty of nappy off time and plain water baths.
