AIBU - Court visitations

So, my son is 18 months old and he has a court order to see his dad every Sunday.

His dad has already defaulted on the court order 4 times since it was put in place less than two months ago due to reasons such as; attending a stag do, christening or being unwell.

Anyway, he told me about 3 weeks ago that he couldn’t have our son this Sunday so he wanted him on Saturday instead so I said yes however since then, my son has been booked into a dentist appointment after being on a waiting list for 6 months. I told his dad and now he’s telling me how it’s unfair on our son that he doesn’t get to see his dad and how it’s all my fault and how he’s going to take me back to court to enforce the order because I’ve broken it even though he is not scheduled to see him on any day other than a Sunday nor am I obliged to rearrange days he can’t make.

AIBU? Will the courts understand the situation or am I supposed to surrender all of my days to this man when it suits him?

I would keep clear documentation of every time he's cancelled visits so text messages. Stick to Sunday and if he isn't available then that's on him.

You don't have to make everyday of your life available for him. Maybe you shouldn't of agreed to the Saturday and then changed it but life happens and things like dentist appointments come up but in the future I would stick completely to the court order.

I might be missing something but could your son see his dad before/ after the dental appointment? It's not going to take all day. If your ex really wanted to see him that day he could make the effort, even if it was just for a few hours. Also it would not go down well with a judge that he chose to go on a stag do rather than see his son.
