Is 24 month olds dummy contributing to night wakings?

24 month old daughter has dummy for nap and sleep at night. She wakes numerous times in the night and more often than not I put her dummy back in and she goes back to sleep. Sometimes she does wake even when she has her dummy in. I’ve left numerous dummies around the bed but she doesn’t seem to bother finding them to put back in. If I was to wean her off the dummy, would she wake less as she would not be wanting the dummy back in her mouth? Or will it make no difference and I’m better off just using the dummy as it keeps her asleep?

I'd wean her off it as I doubt it will make a difference to the night wakings. If it really was something she needed to sleep she would find it. DS would do this and pop it back in. 2 yr olds can have a sleep regression issue. We co slept out of desperation

The first night I took my daughters dummy away she slept through and has ever since, she woke up because she lost it!

I’d say it has to go at some point, so it may as well be now if you think it’s hindering sleep? My just turned 2 year old has a dummy and is more than happy to pop it back in herself if it comes out at night - but I know I have to get rid of it soon and I’m dreading it! In your case I’d be tempted to just ditch it and see if anything changes.
