I would just cuddle until he falls asleep tbh
Are you co-sleeping?

Divastrop · 23/01/2008 21:55

Then his tum would be warm from being in contact but you could still do stuff.

SparklyGothKat · 23/01/2008 21:58

yes, i learnt baby massage wih my first baby. i will give that a go. i try not to co-sleep, because he was premature and we have a breathing monitor in his bed

aha i remember that one sparkly, the baby-on-shoulder all evening. It's something to do with their tummy i think. A theory i had with DD (my number3) is that she couldn't tell the difference between hungry / thirsty / tired / whatever, thought she was starving and wanted to feed when actually she was desperately tired and needed a big sleep. might be worth putting him in a suitably semi-sat-up pram for a bit as the others have said? otherwise you are gonna have to resign yourself to just having shoulders of a brickie (join the club)

SparklyGothKat · 23/01/2008 22:16

ok, he is asleep in my arms, going to try and put him to bed

I am creeping slightly around the house with you... lol

JingleyJen · 23/01/2008 22:19

I would go with calpol
have a bath with him start bedtime again.

gigglewitch · 23/01/2008 22:21

hope he stays asleep for you

ViolentFemme · 23/01/2008 22:22

No advice, but just wanted to let you knoe I've been through it too. And at 7 months he still cries randomly, but I still love him x

posieflump · 23/01/2008 22:24

soemtimes a tired baby that doesn't settle gets more angry/tense/upset until the reason is forgotten. you might need an externam calming stimulus. (like a loud noise that will take his mind off crying, after which he'll forget he was crying...).
try things like taking him to the sink and turning open the tap (sound of water is very calming)...
if it is late at night and you are really too tired try to turn on babytv. he may calm down from the music and images and then you can put him to sleep when he is relaxed.
