Worried about 2 year review

Just that really.
My son is behind in his communication and speaking. He says words but doesn't talk if you get me he also doesn't communicate well.
I'm not overly concerned. My eldest was a late talker and he's just started nursery so hoping that will encourage him. Also with lockdown I think it's pretty widely known that lockdown babies are. Abit delayed with speech (or so everyone tells me).
My sister had her 2 ye review last week and said the HV was asking if her son could hop and checked him bedroom etc.
I'm panicking now as my son can't hop or do tricks. His cot is still in my room as that works for us (single parent with a sleepless baby!).

All of a sudden I'm really worried.
What happens if he's behind?

With eldest they mentioned autism extremely early and was later dismissed. It was such a horrible worrying time and now I'm worried about it happening again 😢

Any experience from the 2 yr review in the uk?

The 2 year review is based on the USA questionnaire and is available online.

Here it is.

The check is to identify children who may need support not to judge you. I would be asking Gp to refer both children for a hearing test and self referring both children to SaLT. The wait is long and the earlier the intervention the more effective it is.

My 2 year old still sleeps in a cot in our room and can’t hop or do tricks either! It’s a load of bollocks! Xx

Do tricks ? What does that mean ?

Either hv will say, all fine
Or might refer for further assessment

He s two
If he does merit a referral then all good he will get some input

My son is 21 months and a late talker so I had a speech & language assessment .I’ve been worried about his speech development for quite some time so I signed him up a few months ago. To say it put my mind at ease would be an understatement. They told me he is a little behind where he should be but he is doing all the right things ( pointing, gestures, singing etc) and that he still has plenty of time. We will go back for a review in 6-8 months. If you are worried about your son’s speech refer him for a speech & language assessment sooner rather than later. At 18 months he had 3-5 words and he now has about 15-20 so he is making progress at his own pace. I am still a little worried about the two year review but not as much as I was.
