Steriliser

I have a new niece coming my way and, when asked what I can buy, was asked to get a steriliser.

My SIL just said a TT Microwave one, but I suggested an electric one as I assumed these were better than the microwave type I used 16 years ago. She said either or.

So I'm looking for opinions on the electric ones. The reviews on Boots aren't great.

Are electric ones better? Is there. Witter than Tommee Tippee?

Budget is about £70/80

Any opinions gratefully received!

I have a very small TT microwave one which I like as I mix feed so only need one bottle a day plus pump parts. It’s also very transportable for staying at the in laws and doesn’t take up much room on the side.

I've just gone for a microwave one this time around as it saves counter space!

I got the dr brown electric steriliser as I read reviews that the microwave didn't fit great in different microwaves. The only issue I have and I don't know if this happens all sterilisers is that after you use it there is a pool of water underneath that I need to dry up each time

The electric ones take up a lot of counter space so depends on the kitchen they'll be in.

We found the TT microwave one perfect - kept it in the microwave mostly so it didn't get in the way. Used it once a day, had everything sterilised in six minutes. Just check it will fit in the microwave as they are quite large!

Don't spend loads though. You can pick them up secondhand for £5-10 so they can't be that much new.

We have the electric TT one which works well but needs descaling CONSTANTLY

I've had both and found the microwave one easier as I had to descale the electric one every other day!

Just to add, if she's thinking of using bottles, the MAM self sterilising ones are great, you just pop them in the microwave so no need for a separate steriliser Smile

I bought a TT electric one when DS (now 4) was a baby. It broke after a few months so I bought another as a replacement thinking it was bad luck. That one broke a short while later. DM bought me a sterilising tub as an emergency replacement and it was so much easier and less faffing that I stuck with that!
