So! Pregnant with no.2, I have a 2 year old, he will be 2.5 when I have the second

will I need a double buggy? If so any recommendations?

or can I get away with our current pram with a buggy board/seat

TIA!

It depends on how good a walker he is and how much walking you do.

If he's a great walker and you mostly drive/bus everywhere then, no.

If he isn't a good walker and you need to walk a mile to get anywhere then, yes.

It also depends on whether you would be happy to carry the newborn in a sling? I often have a baby and a toddler and prefer the sling and single buggy option.

Depends on the child. But they often regress a bit when a younger child arrives and from your post new baby will arrive when. It is still cold so it may be handy to get from a to b in a reasonable timeframe. You will not get an awful lot of use from a double buggy though.
In tour situation I would look for something second hand like Phil and Ted that handles well and works for bigger child to get in an out as he/she is tired.

I would. Even if for just the quick nip to the shops and everyone is contained. I agree with going second hand. You can probably sell it again for similar price so not really losing any more. I had out n about nipper double and liked it.

We survived with a 2 year gap with just a buggy-board (and sling). So at 2.5 I think it is worth seeing how you get on before buying a new double pram.

If you don't tend to walk too much I would get a buggy board, if you walk pretty much everywhere get a double stroller.

Not the same but I had a 2 year old, 1 year old and a newborn with a double buggy. Always had a buggy board and a sling, and swapped the children about depending on who was ratty/bouncy/sleepy.
A single buggy/board/sling would work similarly with your two. Sometimes 2 year olds are strong and happy and riding a buggy board like a surf dude. Sometimes they can't walk five yards and are exhausted and tearful all day. Be flexible. Wink

I have the same age gap and didn't bother with a double buggy. We live rurally so nowhere to walk to unless it's a pleasure walk so just managed with a buggy and a carrier, by the time DS was getting to heavy for his forward facing carrier DD was quicker and could walk further so just did a swap and DS went in the buggy.

SleepingStandingUp · 15/09/2022 20:24

Maybe one of those buggy boards with the seats on? I wouldn't fancy going anywhere quickly with one of my twins walking alongside the buggy 🤣

Silverbirch2 · 15/09/2022 20:33

Same age gap,I got Phil & Ted's second hand and used it loads in first year.

Rockadile · 15/09/2022 20:35

I used mine to death and had the same age gap so a yes from me. It was the best thing I ever bought

Sprinklerainbows · 15/09/2022 22:06

Thank you so much everyone! I might get a cheap second hand one just incase. I love our current pram and would much prefer to use that where possible!

love the idea of sling, I used the sling a lot with my son in the early days

Oh also! we actually do quite a bit of walking
i.e. we walk to town/park most days, it’s about 20-25 mins each way. He’s a great walker but a ‘runner off-er’ so I’m hoping that ends in time for baby no.2🤣
