We're going away on our 1st holiday with ds who's just about to turn 1. As much as I'm excited, I'm also anxious too as a ftm. What are the essentials we need to take? Things to be aware of? We were planning to start on cows milk once he turns one but wondering if that will be wise to do on holiday? Should we just take formula? Also, we're still looking for a travel stroller that is similar in weight and practicality to the babyzen yoyo without the hefty price tag. How was your first holiday with your dc? Any tips and recommendations please 🙏

Snooze shade.
Fan which clips onto pram.
Buy an inflatable boat once there, we filled it with water and he would happily sit and play in it next to sun beds.
If he uses a dummy, take plenty spare.

Order nappies, toiletries, snacks, wipes, creams to boots at airport passed security. Will save room and weight in suitcases. Doesn't count as hand luggage.

My son was 9 months when we went away but the stress before it was far worse than the actual holiday. It was lovely and he really enjoyed new people and surroundings.

Not sure regarding milk abroad but someone will be along who knows.

Naps, he napped great in the pram with the snooze shade. Did have more naps due to the heat and tired from pool etc. afew later nights but again he fell asleep happily in his pram.

Enjoy it!

I wouldn't recommend making any big changes while you are on holiday - that will be a change enough without anything else! So I would take the formula with you and start introducing cows milk when you come home.

I didn't want to pay for a babyzen yoyo either so we just bought a cheap umbrella stroller. I'm assuming you are travelling abroad / flying - some airlines let you take that on the plane and others will take it off you at the door and return when you land. But be prepared in case they decide to return on carousel with luggage also, I've had this happen a few times. I also recommend using a baby carrier, it making boarding / getting off the plane so much easier to be hands free.

Other things to take with you - take a couple of new small toys for them to keep interested on the plane, don't over do it though, they will happily play with a paper bag or cup or whatever instead! Also, snacks, lots and lots of snacks. Don't worry about them getting a healthy balanced meal while you are travelling, whatever will keep them happy will work just fine for that day!

Enjoy your holiday!!

Depends where you’re going re formula. I’d be inclined to stick to formula as have found my kids don’t like milk that’s different to what we have at home.

Definitely take your own kids snacks, always good to have on hand!

We have the mountain buggy nano which can’t complain about! Great travel pushchair.

If hot, don’t forget sunhat - first holiday with DS1 I had to a fashion a tied handkerchief hat out of a Muslin as forgot sunhat in the blazing heat 😄 managed to buy one after that of course.

Have fun!

Oh also it’s easy enough to take travel system on a plane if you’d rather not pay out for another pushchair at all. We just took 5 month old to Greece and took pushchair seat (packed in hold), wheels and car seat to the gate, and travel baby carrier in hand luggage just in case.
