Bringing 6 month old baby to wedding

Hi everyone,
Have some much needed advice. My sister is getting married later in the year and she is marrying my brother in law (husbands brother) 🙈 so every single potential child minder will be at the wedding. My initial plan was to take my 2 girls 1 of which will be 2 soon and the other will be 6 months. I am also maid of honour and my husband is best man so we are going to be super busy with both kids but I didn't mind at all and really want them there with us to celebrate, not that the 6 month old will remember anything I just wanted her there.

Anyway my mother in law has voiced concerns over the noise at a wedding etc and she's absolutely right as it can be very noisy for anyone never mind a little baby. Just wanted to know had any of you ever taken a baby this young to a wedding and if so how did it work out?
Thanks 🥰

Really don't understand the posts saying not to take them. If I understand right, all of your family will be there from both sides; so the baby will be looked after. (I took mine for a wedding at 6 months and bearly saw her all day. People went crazy to hold her 😅) I have an 8 months old and would never even consider not to take her to functions like this [Especially as the couple want your children there] If she's breastfeed, it might be a problem during the ceremony, but I don't see why your family would be upset if your baby cries. If she's a good sleeper, she will be fine in the pram, if not, ask for a quiet place and take a travel cot and baby watch with you.

I'm very much pro bride and grooms getting to decide whether they want children there, but as they do in this case this seems like a total non issue to me. I don't understand why your MIL has spooked you. Surely if the children's entire family from both sides will be there, there will be plenty of people to keep them entertained?

Just take them! They’ll be absolutely fine. Especially as the bride and groom want them there. Weddings should be family affairs. Surely with both sides of the family there you’ll have grandparents/aunts/uncles/friends who can pitch in when needed? Enlist someone to take them out of the ceremony if really needed.

My DS was at my brothers wedding at 9 months, along with the B&Gs 6 month old. They slept in slings and buggies as needed, absolutely no problems. There were loads of kids of varying ages at my wedding and they had a great time.

Surely there should be a childminder there for the day. How do you or DH expect to do your duties in the wedding party otherwise?

Is it normal for brothers and sisters to marry brothers and sisters? You must have such an interesting story, I’d love to see you all interviewed for a magazine!

I don't know if its unusual or not- my Grandmother and her sister married two brothers and even had a double wedding (although that did make the local news!).
