Hi, I don't know id anyone can help, or had something similar, but my 7 year keeps complaining her tummy hurts around an hour b4 she goes to bed. It's been going on for months now, we've been to the drs and they have ruled out coeliac (and at the time of blood tests a virus) when I spoke to a Dr over the phone they the said they thought she was constipated ( she doesnt seem to have a constipated poos when she goes) and that also needed to train her bowel to go to the toilet every day, even if she didnt need to go, but it is difficult getting a 7yo to do this. I thought it could be an intolerance to something, but back when she was getting the pain every night I took the usual suspects out of her diet ( wheat and dairy) but it didn't really ease the pain. Just wondered if any parents have experienced similar as doctors don't see to be able to help, nor do they seem interested. Sorry for the long post and tia 😊

My daughter similar age was similar. It seemed to be a pattern when she was anxious about something or unsettled, and ended up not being a medical issue

sorry that’s probably not much help but worth offering another experience

Are you sure the pain is in her tummy? My son complained of stomach ache and we learnt to control it by not allowing him any fizzy drinks. Years later the symptoms returned and it turned out he had a blocked kidney and needed surgery. Don’t want to be alarmist but it might be worth considering.

My thought would be anxiety. It's a hard one to fix though. I'd maybe look at adjustments to the bedtime routine, particularly something so she isn't lying awake in the dark/quiet by herself, that's when anxiety hits. Something like an audio book can really help. I'd also try a relaxing warm bath before bed, maybe cup of warm milk.

DC2 gets this when he doesn't drink enough.

My son had gastric migraines at that age, due to anxiety

Thanks for all the replies, we hadn't considered anxiety, she doesn't seem to be anxious about anything but it isn't always something you can see is it? I hope it isn't a blocked kidney but can't rule that out either. I will look into gastric migraines and see if it could be something she has. Again thanks everyone 😘

Hello.

Did you get to the bottom of the pains? My daughter had been going on about her tummy pains for weeks and the doctors can’t find anything wrong. Thank you

My little boy (8) has this also, they're random and not sure what causes them either

Saz2015 · 11/10/2022 16:26

Well hers seem to have eased quite substantially since we removed Lactose from her diet! So shes having lactose free milk and cheese, and no crisps with milk in them just incase. She is also not eating any sweets or treats (cake, chocolate etc) atm but for another reason. She does still get them now and again, and it's normally followed by needing to go for a no2 lol. Hope this helps xx
