Dream Baby turned in to a nightmare - help!

Hello,

I’m at FTM and although we got off to a rocky start due to breastfeeding and bonding once my LO started smiling and interacting more we went from strength to strength. Everyone always used to comment on how smiley and chilled she was. I was happy to take her anywhere as she would just come out of the pram and sit on my lap looking around. At home she would interact with her toys and things would keep her occupied for ages. Always been a good sleeper so no complaints there BUT we went away last week and she learnt to roll on to her front at night and can now pretty much sit up unaided. Since we got back (LO is now 5 1/2 months old) and overnight she has become really difficult. Constantly whines, and I mean ALL DAY LONG - she’s never been a cryer or a whiney baby unless she’s super tired or a dirty nappy. Things only keep her occupied for 5-10 minutes - even the TV now. Taking her out has become impossible but staying home is also unbearable. Her naps went completely to sh** but these have improved. She barely ever smiles at me anymore - new people tend to get the biggest smile now, when she’s whining songs, chatting and waving toys at her doesn’t work.

Please tell me this is normal for her age and I’ll get my happy smiley baby back?!

(She is very dribbley but no other symptoms of teething and 5 nights of 7 will sleep through the night.)

These phases do happen - when DD learned to stand up in the cot, she didn't seem to know how to sit down so we had a phase when she woke us up because of that, after having been a really good sleeper. I can't guarantee you'll 'get your baby back' as every stage is so different, but this disrupted bit will pass.
