Hi

I know schools have just went back but my council is opening admissions for next years intake this month.

Is it right that a EHCP needs to be done prior to them closing applications?

How do they know he has one, would it show on the system etc?

Thanks!

Has your child’s EHC plan been agreed? There is usually a box on the county admissions form to tick saying it’s in place.

Ah ok that makes sense! Thank you.

We've been told he's getting one, have a meeting in couple of weeks. I just didn't know if I needed to push it to get done prior to Jan when they close applications. As I've been told they can take 20 weeks to do.

Do you mean the school have said they are going to request a statutory assessment for one or have the LEA have said it would definitely be agreed.

It can take 20 weeks (sometimes longer despite this being a maximum!) from start to finish once the initial application goes in, but it can take a long time to collate evidence before the 20 weeks even starts.

He's in nursery, last year before going into school. HV and nursery have said for him to have one and to get it sorted for school.

But I think I had a slight panic as I read decision can be based on if you have one or not.
