DS is 18 months old
Any tips on entertaining toddlers on a 2.5 hour flight?
We have an hour coach transfer afterwards too 😬

Two and a half hours isn't that long. Make up some stories about his cuddly or take an interesting story book. A bit of ipad. Some snacks. Bit more chat. Done.

I always used to take a new toy but my top tip is don't take too much stuff.

My DD used to love "reading" the laminated safety information card in great detail. We also used to have a little mini rucksack thing which I would pop random little "surprises" in to discover gradually throughout the flight. (Nothing noisy or messy though!)

Lots of little/short activities so colouring, books, little toys to play with, kindle/tablet (with headphones!) with a film or games downloaded, lots of snacks

2.5hrs is quite short so should be fine, probably spend most of the time on the tablet.

Depending on time of flight you mqy be able to get them to nap if it was an early start

Hopefully they'll have a window seat for looking for boats, planes, mountains. Take Stickers. Snacks. A tablet and headphones.

Took my 18 month old on a couple of flights this summer of around that duration. Depending on the times you're flying I found that she was quite happy to nap on the flights. Otherwise snacks, snacks and more snacks. Little walk up the plane to the bathroom and back. She was more than happy.

Thanks all. Yes it's not too long but it's an early flight. Have to be at the airport for 4.30 🫣
Hoping he will nap on the flight or at least the coach.
Any tips for preventing ears from popping? I'm planning on taking milk and getting him to drink it on take off if he will. Or we have some soft gummy sweets that he could chew on (he has back teeth). Does that sound ok? Any other tips would be great so I can be prepared 😊

Have him suck on some lollies for take off and landing.

Just give him a drink but not until you are actually in the air.

For DS at that age I wrapped things up - a toy plane, some magic paint and a colouring book, some stickers etc. it was like mini presents that kept him occupied for longer. We didn't even get to open them all as he was happily playing with the toy plane for ages.

Ears either a lolly or a drink.
