Venicci, Joie or Ickle Bubba?

I’m struggling to pick between 3 travel systems so need some insider help to decide.
I’ve been looking at the following;

Venicci Soft travel system - £629
Joie chrome DLX - £359
Ickle Bubba Stomp v3 - £549

Ive had a good play around with the Venicci and really like the feel of it plus the little hanging nappy bag it comes with (minor detail I know).
I’ve had a little look at the Joie but wasn’t able to give it a run round as there was nobody available in the shop to unchain it but what what I could see it felt ok.
I haven’t seen the Ickle Bubba in person yet but have seen lots of good feedback, plus this comes with the Isofix base.

would really like to hear some thoughts on each model if you have used one. The Venicci is at the top end of what I’m willing to spend.

Who in gods name calls a product ickkle bubba?

lookslikeabombhitit · 04/09/2022 08:48

Have a think about how you'll use it would be my advice! City walks? Uneven pavements? Parks? Beaches (none of those prams will push well on sand)? Forests? Public transport (so can you fold it down quickly without taking it to pieces?)?

I had a Joie chrome for my first years ago. Chose it because it folded down as one forwards and rear facing. No way could I be bothered having to disassemble a pram everytime I used it. It was nice to push but the wheels/suspension were rubbish. It's been massively improved since (I got the first model version!). I've had lots of Joie stuff since (3dc). Their car seats are excellent for safety so based on your choices that's what I'd go for.

Belting a car seat in is just as safe as using a base so if the stomp is only appealing because of the base I'd cross it off the list.

If you're getting a travel system because it comes with everything/ car seat bare in mind the safety of the car seat rather than the look of the pram. Baby will be in that car seat until roughly 13kg though realistically you probably won't be lugging them in and out of the car in the carrier past 9-12 months old as they get bloody heavy! Not all car seats are made equally.

You can't seriously be considering buying something called Ickle Bubba?

There is no way in earth that a company which is that shit at naming its products would be any better at building them. Do not encourage these people!

weewill · 04/09/2022 08:50

Do not get the ickle bubba! So cheaply made. I hated it.

Onebabyandamadcat · 04/09/2022 08:54

I love my venicci pram. Was great for both rough park walks and pavement. Folded down easily enough to fit in a small boot and I never bought a buggy - used the buggy part of this until DD was 3. It still looks great and once I give it a bit of a scrub up it'll be used for DC2 in feb

sandgrown · 04/09/2022 08:56

Relieved I am not the only one who thought they were potential baby names!

Good god, I thought you were to be discussing name choices!

ha ha me too!
(Ickle bubba being the current nickname!)
awful product name, imagine having to make a sales pitch for that

Twokidsanddone · 04/09/2022 08:59

I don't have any experience with the other 2 but our vennicci travel system thay we got for DC1 is currently being well used by DC2 and still going strong. We live in a fairly rural area so it's been used on some quite smooth and rough terrain and it's been great. It folds down easily enough and fits in most cars I've had to journey in with it

hellotheirsugar · 04/09/2022 09:02

I absolutely LOVED my venicci for my little boy! Was an absolutely brilliant pram, pushed beautifully and was just so cosy! My friend just got another for her little girl and swears by it xx

Littleduck80 · 04/09/2022 09:05

The name Ickle Bubba makes me want to puke but I don’t get to chose what shit name a company decides to give itself.

@lookslikeabombhitit We are active people and will be using in most of those situations, probably apart from public transport. But i live on the coast and won’t be attempting to take any pushchair across sand. I’ve watched too many people attempt that to even bother trying myself. One of the reasons these 3 have ended up in my shortlist is because the quality of the wheels seem on the better side for the price range (although husband may tell me I’m wrong when he comes to look).

as mentioned I have not seen the IB in person yet, and won’t be buying any blindly so may find when I do get to have a proper look, I don’t like it.

I spent a while discussing safety features with the assistant I was looking at them in store recently and content with that aspect.

I bought an Ickle Bubba travel system and swiftly returned it, it was so flimsy! A Venicci one was my top choice too but out of our price range, I ended up with a second-hand Egg which I've absolutely loved. Save your money for a decent rear-facing car seat and buy a pram second-hand.

SparrowsNest · 04/09/2022 09:18

We found Joie Chrome excellent and great value. It has been passed on between my adult children and is now in it's 3rd home and still going strong.

hewouldwouldnthe · 04/09/2022 09:42

If ickkle bubba are as cheap sounding as their name I would avoid that.

jazzibelle · 04/09/2022 10:24

Avoid Ickle Bubba. I got the travel system, despite the name being 🤮 and I have to replace the stroller after 15 months. My son fits in it just fine, but it’s falling apart. We live in a city and have used it just pottering about, so no heavy usage.

I also had to buy a new car seat after 12 months anyway as the one that comes with got too small too quickly.

The travel systems seem like good value, but I wish now I’d bought it all seperately.

I went with Joie for the new car seat and it’s amazing! I also have a Joie high chair and my son finds it very comfortable.

hulahoopqueen · 04/09/2022 10:32

We had the Joie and it was fantastic - amazingly hardwearing and the suspension was absolutely brilliant. If you can get a bundle with the car seat I absolutely would go for that, Joie car seats are very good for the price.
Cousin had the icklebubba and while the system was generally OK, the hood was apparently totally useless.
No experience with Venicci, sorry!

wwyd2021medicine · 04/09/2022 11:15

Only came here for the names
Disappointed 😂

bluesky45 · 04/09/2022 11:20

I wouldn't buy the ikkle bubba on principal because I hate the name and couldn't stand to walk around pushing a product with that emblazoned on it! I don't have any experience with the other 2 but we have Joie car seats and really rate them. So I might be tempted to go with that as I trust the brand.

charley39 · 04/09/2022 12:10

I had a Venicci with my first think it was a gusto? It was a relatively new pram over here I believe at the time. We really liked it but we did find it quite hard to put up and down a bit fiddly and the frame is quite heavy but then most prams are the same from the ones I’ve tried. Overall though no real complaints about ours. Was hoping to use it for our second baby as my first hated being in the pram so it was practically brand new only to discover we had some mice in our garage who chewed through it all and nested in it.

this time around we went for the icandy lime. It’s pretty reasonably priced for icandy and some deals if you shop around a bit. I loved the fact that it folds all as one once using the seat unit as I found it such a faff having all the separate parts with the Venicci and most other prams. I feel like this takes up less boot space. Not a big issue if you won’t be driving a lot or have a big enough car.

the only thing I would say is check the wheels. Our Venicci had inflatable tyres that we had to use a bike pump on. Luckily we never got a puncture on ours but just to be aware as most prams again don’t use the air tyres.

Caspianberg · 04/09/2022 12:18

If your active lifestyle, do consider a theee wheel jogger type a bit more.
Out and about nipper, mountain buggy, baby jogger.
All do various size variations, can add a car seat using adapters and can add carrycot if you prefer.

Itreallyistimetogo · 04/09/2022 12:19

Joie is great for the money, absolutely loved ours.

HaveringWavering · 04/09/2022 15:44

The name Ickle Bubba makes me want to puke but I don’t get to chose what shit name a company decides to give itself.

But if people don't buy their products then they will either go bust or change their name. So you (the customer) absolutely do get to influence the shit name.

Lap91 · 04/09/2022 18:33

We looked at the Ickle Bubba travel system and were told in the shop that the car seat is only tested to I think 30mph whereas others are usually tested to 70. Can't advise on the others but we went for a Nuna Mixx in the end as I wasn't happy with Ickle Bubba from a safety standpoint in addition to the vom-inducing name!
