Sterilising weaning equipment?

Just that really. Do bowls, spoons, feeding cups for water etc need to be sterilised for babies under a year old? Tried searching old threads and found one where the answer was a resounding no, but it was from 2006 so just wanted to check current guidance? NHS website seems to talk specifically about bottles, teats etc which I still would be sterilising until 1 year anyway.

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I wouldn't bother, they're probably putting all sorts in their mouth at this point.

If you want to for peace of mind then you can, it's not a problem but doesn't need to be done.

If they are 6 months + then all the dishes need is washing in hot soapy water or in the dishwasher

No! Don't waste your time, life as a mum is busy enough.

The only things that really ever need to be sterilised are milky things, and even then, after a year, no real need.

Excellent haha! Yeah I suspected only the milky equipment, glad to have it confirmed Smile thanks all!

We haven't sterilised anything since 6 months (including bottles).

I think I maybe carried on sterilising bottles to 7 months but after some of the things she put in her mouth I stopped bothering. I just put everything in the dishwasher now.

I sterilised gummy things (teats/dummies) until my baby stopped using them as I read somewhere they're quite porous and could be damaged but not noticeable (like scratches you wouldn't notice ) so quite difficult to make sure they are properly clean.
Although I'm not sure where I read that and was probably being pfb!

Everything else I just washed with hot soapy water beyond 6 months.
