Does school allow boots as footwear?

So just a quick question. Girls obviously have t bar or Mary Janes. In the winter are they allowed to wear boots? I'm not talking Ugg, wellies etc I mean proper black leather ones

Our primary is fairly flexible with uniform and allows boots. My younger DD is 6 and has, quite sensibly imo, said she'll only wear 'boys' shoes', so that's what we've got her. Much studier and more practical for playing out in the wet.

Ours does, i get navy ankle boots from George at asda

Our school doesn't allow them. My daughter has boots for casual wear in winter and wears them most weekends but normal school shoes in the week. We buy closed over ones in winter; saving Mary-Jane or T-bar styles for spring so her feet stay warm and dry in the cold weather.

Thankyou all for your replies. So many different views from schools. Crossing legs! How pathetic. Changing into wellies is a good idea but it also reduces their play time when they've got to put them on and off. What a ball ache for a 6 year old. Ankle shoes is a nice loophole 😆

To the person 'imagine if they had a telephone' that's not the reason I asked the question. I asked to see if this was a popular thing in schools, if other mums have experienced it. Imagine using a forum out of curiosity

Officially our primary school didn’t, but when I couldn’t find anything other than a plain black ankle boot that would stay on DD’s feet (she started school in toddler shoe sizes with very narrow feet, it was tricky finding shoes), they didn’t object. The YR teacher said knee boots or ones with buckles or tassels caused problems on the carpet, but that flat, plain ankle boots weren’t a problem.

To be honest I expect this is part of the reason some schools ban them. The say they allow plain black ankle-boots, then before you know it Chelsea is wearing knee length boots with silver sparkles, buckles and tassels and fiddling with them, showing them off etc.

Haha this sounds so true.

I will be standing up to the school though on the matter, however my girls will be wearing plain smart ones

I'm in a middle of a fight right now with school about my daughter wearing boots. She has freakishly wide feet and the only thing she's conformable in is dr martens boots one size bigger. I told them what the situation is. They said they will discuss it with the head. I said fine but whatever they decide the boots stay. Children spend 7 hours a day 5 days a week in school and they have the right to spend it in conformable shoes. It shocks me that they believe they have the authority to take that right away from them.
