Advice on shopping list for 4 year old and 6 year old

We are soon to become the adoptive dads of a 4 year old boy, and 6 year old girl! Very exciting but also stressful, as we are trying to prepare. Any advice on a shopping list of must haves for the ages of the kids above? For instance what medicines do we need to stock up with for general ailments for kids of 4 and 6? Do we need anything specific for a 6 year old girl, as we are two men we are not quite sure if there is anything we haven’t thought of ? And advice would be gratefully accepted. Thanks

Children's hand soap - anything to encourage them to wash their hands!

Baking and painting is a lovely activity for small children, well everyone, especially as you will be spending lots of time at home, so get supplies in.

Playing games (especially physical games) is great for having fun and bonding so get some in, not too many that it's overwhelming- maybe ask their foster carer which games they currently enjoy/play with.
Games help with hand/eye coordination too.

I would also get some cuddly throws or blankets, lovely to snuggle up with when you are all watching Tv etc (maybe that's just me).

All the best for your brand new adventure!

Plug in nightlights if your house is dark.

calpol, bonjella (for ulcers), piriton (for allergies), eye mist/eye bath and antihistamine cream (for insect bites/nettle stings etc) are the most used first aid things with my kids.

Congratulations, the only thing that springs to mind is moisturizer for sensitive skin, my kids always use some after baths or showers.

I wonder would giving them access to a camera to start your family album be an idea. Maybe when they are settled but the idea of a family project is what I am trying to say in a rather inelegant way!

I don't have any useful suggestions but wanted to say congratulations.

Actually one thing I love is we strung (stringed?) across one wall, put pegs on it and art work can be hung. One in, one out so they choose what's displayed. Makes the place homey and 'owned' by them a little.

Oh how exciting! Congratulations!

Everything really has been covered and there are some fucking fabulous adopters on the adoption boards, so definitely introduce yourselves on there!

You've probably got everything covered and with things like amazon prime what you don't have, you're more than able to pick up quickly!

I just wanted to give you a huge congratulations on extending your family and say hello!

You may find if they've experienced negligence long term they may need extra dental care or help with toileting, waterproof mattress covers was a great shout, I have these with my SEN kiddo.

Maybe do some batch cooking for the freezer and get in lots of comfort things, I make my dc boards for breakfast and lunches that are like picky food grazing platters. Or make our own fancy hot chocolates. It'll give you something to do, without leaving the house if you're after activities, food is a great way to bond!

It'll be intense but incredible and you've worked so hard for this, just enjoy!
Definitely get over the adoption board though, the folks there are a wealth of information and all very kind x
