Hey! Im a FTM and I really want to take my LB to baby classes but he’s sooo miserable everyday. Cries non stop 😪 he’s got the drs on Tuesday so will mention it to them incase it’s a possible cows milk allergy but he will not just lie and play on a mat or anything 😩any advice? Im feel so useless. Is there something I’m doing wrong???

What has FTM got to do with anything?

Doodledeedum · 28/08/2022 21:14

@Sparkletastic maybe because she lacks experience to know what it could be?

@JayGibson I'd absolutely get checked out that baby doesn't have allergies, or even a cranial osteopath in case baby has tension. All day every day crying isn't the norm - good luck 🤞🏼

What has FTM got to do with anything?

Maybe because a first time mum doesn’t know that no mum is gonna judge her for taking a crying baby to a class..

maybe because a first time mum isn’t going to know what level of crying is normal, let alone what is normal for her child…

maybe because a first time mum is overly anxious about this new life she holds in her hands…

Thank you I will definitely mention it to the dr as it’s honestly constantly! I feel so useless because I can’t do anything to help! Hopefully can give him any help he needs! Xx

This is a thick question.

JayGibson · 28/08/2022 21:21

Thank you! It’s hard being new to all of this thank you for understanding my worry ♥️

It could maybe be reflux so definitely mention it to your doctor/HV. Also try keeping him upright as much as possible, particularly after he's eaten. Make sure you burp him really well and can cycle his legs to help him shift any wind that way.

It does get easier!

TiffanyIceberg · 28/08/2022 21:24

FTM also means female to male, maybe that's the confusion

JayGibson · 28/08/2022 21:25

Thank you will try the keeping upright! I changed his milk to kendamil from C&G and his winding is so much better! He was also on gaviscon but he got constipated 😪

I thought she meant female to male 😂

JayGibson · 28/08/2022 21:30

Sorry I had no idea that was a thing 😅

My first cried AROUND THE CLOCK. I couldn’t do any of the things you’re supposed to do like baby massage, lunches with other mums, even had to cancel the newborn photo shoot I had booked. She had silent reflux so ended up with medicine and things improved a lot from there. I’d go back to your GP. I think they can prescribe omeprazole now

JayGibson · 28/08/2022 21:49

Oh a few people have mentioned omeprazole! We have the gp on Tuesday, will mention about silent reflux and see what they say! xx

Does baby sleep OK during the day for naps? (Sling, pram, cot, whatever) - do they get enough sleep? Sometimes a fussy baby can just be a really tired baby. Ten weeks is still so little, really only capable of 60-90 minutes awake before needing to nap. If naps are hit and miss, maybe try sticking to 60-90 minute wake time for a few days and see if he's happier. Do whatever you need to do to get him to sleep. (For us that was sling!) Learning about 'Wake windows' really helped us. Agree with others though, reflux and allergies could also be culprits. Good luck!

Sounds like my soon to be 8 week old for the first 6 weeks… I changed milks, he was on gaviscon and nothing seemed to help.. I was at my wits end then I tried Colief and co lactase and he was like a different baby… it helps break down the lactose to help baby digest the milk as their tummies are still developing, helps with colic/wind. His naps are still very short during the day but his much happier between feeds and naps and sleeps quite well during the night.
