Mummy's please help me! I need to start getting into a routine but so far we have nothing and DS is 10 months old!!! Is it too late to start one? I mean how would I even start one?!

We have dinner, bath, bottle, bed around the same time but during the day no routine at all!

Why do you need one? We've never had much of a daytime routine as every day is different.

Breakfast and lunch have a rough time? I used to like getting out after breakfast and spend the afternoon at home.

Of you want to start a routine, think first of rhythm.

By that I mean think of the activities you'll do in a typical day and the order. So for example it might be

Wake up
Dressed
Breakfast
Walk
Lunch
Nap
Snack
Tea
Bath
Bed

Then start by waking them up at the same time every day. Even on weekends. Eventually you'll find the other parts of the rhythm will start to sit at the same time each day.

Why do you need a routine in the day for a 10 month old? ... If it's for your sanity then go ahead but otherwise they don't need it. They are still so little and don't even eat full meals yet.

I love a routine. It's never too late to get into one.

I started from birth but I knew a 7-7 routine would be ideal so I started by waking him at 7am every morning no matter what and eventually, I also gradually reduced his bedtime to 7pm.

I looked into wake windows to set his naps at a time where he'd be tired and adjust it as he gets older and I follow eat-activity-sleep as a general rhythm to the day which is also the rhythm they follow at nursery.

He's approaching 6 months now and he has 3 naps, has a bottle every 3 hours during the day and sleeps 7-7. Next thing will be working in solids to his routine.

My DS is 6 months and we have no day routine. It would honestly stress me out as prefer to go with the flow.

What happens if your baby decides he is tired when he is supposed to be awake? He might be poorly, teething, having a growth spurt but the routine restricts him from sleeping when he needs to!! If he is happy then why change anything, I think it's better to just go with baby's cues. Agree with the above post though if you need one for your sanity than go ahead.
