Starting combination feeding- any advice?

Baby so far has been EBF and we are both very happy with breastfeeding. Baby has also taken a bottle from day 0 so her dad can do his share of night feeds with expressed milk whilst I pump.

However, there will be some events coming up where I will be away from baby for the day and I want to introduce formula to be used in emergencies. The plan is to pump enough, but I obviously don’t want to leave her without enough food if she is hungry and drains the supplies that I leave.

Is there an advised way to introduce formula in an instance like this? A good brand? I know millions of babies get on with formula fine daily, but I’m worried about upsetting her little tummy if she is not used to it.

I have read a few posts where people have suggested their BF babies have got on better with the premixed stuff- I don’t know if anyone else agrees with this?

I had exactly the same situation as you, I started a little bit of formula from a few weeks though, and mine had no issue whether it was powdered or premade. If you’re not going to use many, I’d recommend the premade as it’s so easy. Mine didn’t seem bothered about the brands either, legally they have to be pretty much identical! You could start mixing half breast and half formula to get them used to it, one of my friends did that around 6 months and it worked well for them.

Can't advise om the breast feeding to bottle as I've FF since birth for various reasons but with the formula as the PP said don't stress too much on brand. Its so tightly regulated they are pretty much one of the same.

Pre mixed is easier and if you aren't going to be using formula for a while after I would suggest these bottles. The powder needs to be used within 4 weeks of opening so could be a big waste. The pre made come in numerous sizes of bottles and until opened last longer

I use aptamil just because it's easiest for me to get hold of

A dietitian said to me the difference between powder and pre made is cost and the difference between brands is the label....

No advise as i am a mum to be but would love some advise on how you found introducing a bottle of expressed milk from birth, i would love to introduce the bottle early as my husband is very keen to help with feeds. So much so i think he would prefer me to bottle feed but is very supportive and would never say so!
