Can anyone please give some simple quick and easy ideas to give me 7 month old daughter as finger foods! She is a good eater loves her food! I dont always have the time to cook stuff up or process and don't want to give her pouches all the time. Ty x

I'm interested too. I have been cutting up veg sticks. Popping them in a tupaware with water in bottom for two mins so they're soft. Toast and omelette too strips but that's it!
Could you give me an idea of how much food your baby is eating and milk etc as I'm not sure I'm doing it right!

I just give whatever I am eating, I might load the spoon if it's a bit wet. Or are you looking for more snacks? Cut up crumpets, toast, veg sticks or breadsticks dipped in hummus or cream cheese. At 7 months it's all about introducing lots of different tastes and textures so I wouldn't worry to much about the amount eaten.

DS loves food but isn't coping as well with finger food as his older siblings did at the same age. He wolfs down purée, porridge etc but he just isn't doing great with feeding himself. I just try and give him some finger food with every meal alongside his purée. He'll get there eventually. It's usually a combination of different veggies sol I'll steam some carrot/sweet potato/broccoli/cauliflower/spinach etc or a mixture of different things. I'll give him some pieces to try and self feed and the rest I'll mash up with a bit of milk or some cream cheese.

With the older ones when they were babies, I was making lots of Annabel Karmel recipes from the book by this point. Meatballs, croquettes etc. But DS just isn't ready for that yet. I do worry he's not getting enough iron as a result so I put spinach in almost everything.

He does quite like a crumpet for breakfast sometimes. I find they break up quite easily in a way that's manageable for him. He also sometimes has toast fingers with hummus or something spread on it. He gets on OK with that for the most part.

Toast with lots of different toppings like Hummous, avocado, butter, peanut butter etc. pasta, like penne o shapes or twirls, forget what they are called, again with sauces, grated cheese. Veg and fruit sticks of all kinds, slices of melon are fun. they usually can’t quite manage peas and sweetcorn sized veg ye I think? Strips of chicken, pulled pork, roast meat, some people do chicken drumsticks as easy to hold, mine used to suck meat till it was grey at that age but preferred it to pretty much anything else for a while so maybe an iron thing. Potato cakes, pancakes or crumpets. Roast potatoes, wedges or chips, made from potato or sweet potato, squash, carrot, parsnip, beetroot is messy!
the two ingredient banana pancakes are good. Rice cakes, cheese crackers, noodles, chapatis, roti. Can be dipped in good stuff eg dhal.

Thankyou! Few of them I've tried already, and a few are new so will give them ago. She much prefers to be control and has brilliant hand coordination grabs things well ect. I give her Ella or little Freddie pouches as well as my own cooking so i know she'll be getting enough.

One food that I try giving her that concerns me is toast! She loves it! (Especially marmite) But everytime she starts choking and coughs up a lump. Frightens me so bad so take it away. I only toast it lightly so its not to hard and i cut off the crust. I guess fear has been holding me back giving her certain things.

Hey, at the moment she is having around 3/4 6oz bottles by day (morning after breakfast, after lunch before her nap and before bed) depends on how much food she has eaten, and then another in the night. The water in tupaware idea is good 👍 she loves cucumber sticks and strawberries as finger food and i always have baby snacks in like rice cakes/ wafers and puffs. Toast i am scared as she always chokes on it 😔

She eats a small amount of porridge in morning with either strawberrys (finger food) or fruit pouch. Lunchtime i give another pouch normally eats about half a big one. And tea she will have a little of what we eat or a pouch followed by a small yogurt. Seems alot but portion sizes are on the smaller side . Every baby different though, my eldest wouldn't eat a bloody thing!

Fruit loaded pancakes were a huge hit for mine when they were little. I mashed up some bananas, mixed in equal amounts of eggs and then added flour until consistency was right (think thick yogurt) and then added in whatever fruit I had in. Frozen fruit is fab for these. Then fried them up in a pan and gave as they were or cut into strips, they loved them! I would sometimes add a bit of syrup to sweeten them but tbh they were often sweet enough with the banana in them. Mine never liked toast much, so we didn't bother with that. Like others have said it's about introducing flavours and textures so just give baby whatever you're having within reason and see how it goes!

I make breakfast muffins for my DD which go down a treat. You basically just scramble up some eggs and put some cheese and veggies in (spinach is a good one for before they have teeth to chew on things like broccoli, peppers) and pour into a muffin tray and then bake in the oven for 15 mins.

Puff pastry pinwheels are a great option. Really quick and easy to make, and you can add loads of different nutritious fillings. Buy the ready rolled pastry and all you have to do is add the filling, roll and bake in the oven. Google pinwheel recipes for babies and you'll find plenty of ideas.
