New nursery advice

Hello
i am in the process of moving DS from one nursery to another - there is nothing wrong with his current nursery but the new one is closer so more convenient. We have had 3 settling in session out of 6 so far and I am just not feeling the nursery. Firstly I feel they have misled me about the age of the other children who would be there - they are all younger when they said there would be more his age. There is no structure to activities - he was there 4 hours today and he couldn’t tell me one thing he had done.
I have been in tears all evening. I want to keep him at his current nursery but in the T&Cs I have signed it says I need to give 1 months notice and I am liable for fees for that month. I can’t afford to pay x2 nursery fees - if he hasn’t officially stated yet am I still liable for this notice period? I don’t know what to do but I do t feel I can send him there

How old is he? Have you considered a preschool instead?

He is 4. Yes I have a space as a back up but the times are 9-3 and term time only and I work full time so ideally I wanted full time hours. I want him to be in a setting where I know he is being challenged. Honestly it was awful today, I really had to hold in my tears in front of the staff until I left. I know that sounds dramatic but where he is currently they are so good and structured with their daily routine.

Get used to kids not telling you a single thing they've done all day. My daughter is 6 and can't name 1 thing she's done at school! It's normal!

Does the contract have a settling in period? I'm a childminder and the contract has a four week selling in period in which either party can cancel the contract without notice if they feel it isn't working out

The T&Cs do not say anything about the settling in period just I need to give 1 months notice. It doesn’t specify it that’s from the official start date though or before. It’s more the staff could t tell me either - all the sessions they say they have been ‘child led’ to me that means they have just been left to their own devices. He can tell me exactly what he’s been up to at his current nursery. I just don’t want to be liable for costs
