I am new to the idea of reusables and definatly want to give it a go (I'm due in January). Didn't use them with ds. i didn't know anything about shaped nappies and the idea of folding and huge nappy pins scared me no end. I have looked around and Tots bots seem like the best company to go with. Just having trouble getting my head around the whole booster/nappy/wrap thing. I think i have it now but, does the fleece wrap and booster idea really work? Has anyone here tried it? And the idea of using size 2 nappies from birth, doesn't this restrict movement? and hinder crawling etc? After reading some other threads I'm waiting for info from the Nappy Lady but i want to hear as many opinions and experience as poss.

I have tried using the tb red wrap, didn't think much of them to be totally honest, too bulky. Unless you have a large newborn it might be a good idea to wait until the baby is big enough, as they tend to swamp the newborn. I bought size 1 tots bots nappies with aplix (don't need to use grips or pins) however, my little one is now 3 months and I find because the little one is tall baby that the tots bots don't fit so well. I went to using the tots bots nappy with aplix and putting on plastic covers from Boots £2.75 for 5 of them, very out fashioned, but found that I didn't get so many leaks and fitted the newborn well.
I have now gone to using the old fasioned method of terry nappies, I don't use a nappy pin but use a nappy grippa, they are really good instead of pins. I don't use a booster, as I tend to use a disp. nappy at nighttime and put the little one in terries during the daytime. I also use disp. liners that you can flush down the toilet as I need them for my nappies. A good website that I found for ordering items for nappies are 'www.thebuzzness.co.uk' As they don't charge delivery. If you want to try totsbots nappies try getting a special one of pack where can you can order a wrap of your choice and nappy of your choice for a one of price, I think delivery if free for this one. Look on the tots bots website.

Having used kooshies for ds1, I found totsbots fantastic for ds2. Used them from the moment we got home from the hospital. Went for size1 for the first 6months (mix of applix and nappy nippas) and rikki wrap... does up with poppers at waist and leg, adjustable to fit baby properly. DS2 still looked like a weeble with a huge bottom and tiny top but gave you plenty to hold onto!! He was 7lb4oz at birth and stayed pretty average for weight, but long. I had no probs with leaks, infact only suffered this when out and using the odd disposable. I used a booster at night only from around 3.5-4months as he was waking and being changed at night with feeds. Once going from 7-7 at 5months exactly, needed to booster to absorb the wee. Wouldnt go for nappy nippas in your size 2 tbs as found they didnt stay done up properly when ds2 started moving around. Crawling wasnt restricted by the nappies at all, they're not that big. Did take ds1 out of his washables at 20mo because I thought it was affecting the way he walked... v turned in toes. ds2 came out of washables at 1 because he was a much bigger boy generally than ds1 and wouldnt fit into cast off clothes with big nappy on! Third baby arriving next week and I shall be going back to my totsbots again so feel I've got more than my monies worth out of them.
I used the fleece liners as told that old waste pipes could block even with flushable liners (a friends experience in her Victorian terrace) so didnt risk it. They kept ds1+2 much drier and comfier than the paper I think, and poo just dropped off when shaken over the loo bowl.
HTH!!

Thanks everyone, i was really started to get a bit daunted by the whole idea. I thought it might not be so hard to try because for ds, who's three now ,i bought a couple of Kooshies all in one things for him at night.. And it's turned out to be a great idea. Don't know why i didn't do it sooner! The amount of money i was wasting on pull ups! So i thought right, looking at the way things have changed i could try this from birth. Until i started to actually look into it and didn't have a clue where to begin. So is the general opinion that the fleece wrap and booster just a naff idea? I am going to get a trail pack from tots bots and give it a go anyway i guess but i'm just worried about wasting money. Wanted to know what the nappy lady and everyone else thought first. And the rikki wraps, what brand are they? Sorry so many questions, i am just determined to give it a good go.
