Birthday party for ASD 4 year old

My 4 year old has his 5th birthday party in December and is begging me for a party.

However, he has ASD diagnosed.
Doesn't cope well with busy settings, he can be very very blunt to people and come across as rude.
When I take him to soft play he lasts 10 minutes before he's crying asking to leave. Same when he has attended a soft play party in the past we've had to leave because he can't cope.

I've thought about a little tea party in the house with some children from his class. But even when we have the in laws over or my friends over with their children he asks them to leave and brings their shoes for them when they've only just sat down! Blush so I think a tea party would go down like a lead balloon.

We've thought about a family day out, somewhere he would like. But he's got his heart set on a party like what his big sister had. (Soft play party) I feel awful saying no to him having a party as I want to give him the same as his sister but I really don't think he will cope with a party.

You can take him to soft play without making it a party, would that be a compromise? Soft play then home for some down time

Do you have space for a bouncy castle?

maybe invite one or two others that will get it and have fun even if he has to go and relax. Keep his bedroom or somwhere for him to go when needed.

That's a good idea ! We don't have space for a bouncy castle, but my in laws do & he has his own bedroom there & feels comfortable At his grandparents home . Thankyou !

That was a thought, but I would hate to invite some of his friends then have to leave in 5-10 minutes Blush

I know all children with autism are different but I know Ds would love a bouncy castle and even if he gets most of his fun before the others arrive he will still have fun!

I was thinking of hiring the local hall and a bouncy castle

He may find a bouncy castle in an enclosed hall quite overwhelming. They are quite noisy and take up a fair amount of space.

We found a hall with a couple of rooms and it's own outdoor space. Something like this might work as you could have different types of activities in different spaces.
