Pushchair on slight incline at 3 months old?

Can I put my 3 month old in a pushchair on a slightly inclined position? I have the occaro mamas and papas pushchair/carrycot bundle and wanting to change it now. My baby has reflux so we're always lugging the car seat out of the car as opposed to using the flat carrycot.
She can't fully support her head but she's almost there, as I say the pushchair would still be quite reclined not fully upright.
Says online the pushchair can be used from birth and to have it completely flat for a newborn, just unsure till what point this is necessary.
First time mum here so any advice welcomed!
Thank you x

I've got the same pushchair and put my son in the seat on the middle recline option from around two months. He grew out of the carrycot really quickly, and we had no issues putting him in the main seat. Just fully reclined it when he fell asleep. He's 16 months now and he's had no issues from doing that. As long as baby is facing you and you can keep an eye I don't see an issue.

Yes - you know your baby best. Mine moved from bassinet to 'seat' but in a semi reclined position at 13 weeks and was much happier for it. As long as the back stays flat and head and neck not slumping down it's fine so just keep an eye out for that

@OhLookCriedNed @Allthecoloursoftherainbow
That's great thanks so much for replying. When Googling it said about spine and neck positions potentially being an issue but I thought she was fine myself, no different from the car seat we put her in.
I'm a new mum who questions everything lol. X

I'm afraid not no. Baby really needs to be flat at this age until they are 6 months.
This is mainly to keep their airways open.
It's also recommended that babies under 6m spend no more than 30 mins in the car seat increasing to 2 hours at 6m, so it's not really an option to use the car seat instead.
Using an inclined pram seat will also put pressure on their spine, particularly at the base.
As a last resort you could incline the carrycot mattress by 1 or 2 cm using a rolled up muslin but it's not ideal.
Could you use a sling or carrier instead?

Of course!! I thought most carrycots could go on an incline, just thought I’d mention that in case you missed it and would prefer that option?

What is ‘newborn’ anyway? I have a 4 month old and haven’t thought of her as a a newborn for ages!

My baby was already in the pushchair by this point!!! He was desperate to see more and not comfortable as he was too long for the bassinet (my DH is 2m20 tall 🤣🤣)
No problems as far as we’re concerned. He was sitting up quite early and when I first used the pushchair seat I had it reclined. Hes 6 months now and even sat up in the pushchair for the last 6 weeks or so maybe more. He faces forward and enjoys peeping at everything. Do what you think is best! I’m assuming your baby won’t be in the pushchair for 5 hours a day. Xx

But if they go in a carrier, they aren't flat and there is pressure on their spine 🤷

My reflux DC was in the pushchair seat by 3 months - point blank refused to lie flat, and in any case the MW had told us to raise the bed and carrycot at the head sue to reflux anyway. You know best, if their head control is fine, go for it

bluesky45 · 21/08/2022 21:07

@maryberryslayers that's not correct. 30mins is only for the first 8 weeks or so, not 6m. They can certainly be in the car longer than 30mins at this age!
