Do I brush 18 month olds teeth before or after milk bottle in the morning?

18 month old still has a bottle of milk in the morning and before bed. At night he has his milk and then we brush his teeth before he goes to sleep. In the morning we brush his teeth and then he has his milk. Is this the wrong way round? Should he wake up, have his milk and then we brush his teeth?

Plan to transition from a bottle to a cup at some point but using a bottle for now.

I should add, the reason why I'm asking is because I've read that milk being drank in a bottle after 12 months can greatly affect the quality of the child's teeth

DD is 15 months. In the morning she has a bottle straight (she literally wakes up in a rage so we have no choice anyway) then we brush her teeth after her bath. Before she goss to bed she has a bottle and then we brush her teeth.

No clue what the correct order is tho so that’s not very helpful sorry😂

I dont think it matters as long as teeth are brushed before sleep

I've never understood brushing before eating! I'd personally do her teeth after bottle /breakfast but that's because I really don't see the point in brushing before eating.

We swapped to a straw cup for milk after 1 because he's a spiller!

Definitely last thing at night, at least half an hour after eating, and very first thing in the morning, well before eating. That’s the ideal. Do your best with this, but of course babies can’t read advice!

I brush before eating quite a lot depending what day it is and when I will get breakfast.

It's better than brushing too soon after eating as you can brush your enamel away.

Either before or after is fine. If you brush after food/milk, keep in mind you're supposed to wait 20 mins. Otherwise you brush the sugars into the teeth and potentially cause damage. (That's for adults too.)
