Does your LO have any odd/weird behaviours?

Hi all,

I have some worries for DD partly due to DS being autistic.

DD jumps and lots and sometimes rubs her hands together when she is feeling shy or anxious. Her speech is coming on but is so unclear at times I do struggle to understand her. I’m worrying that she is displaying little signs of ASD, however I don’t know if this is due to DS being on the spectrum, so I am looking for things. DS showed very obvious signs from a young age, flapping, pacing, intense interests, watching wheels spin. DD is nothing like this but I just can’t shake this feeling. I’m making myself an anxious wreck. HV saw DD in January but didn’t have concerns.

Does anyone’s LO’s have habits or strange behaviours, that you would class as normal toddler behaviour or a concern? I think I just need some normal perspectives, as I’ve currently gone down a rabbit hole 🤦🏼‍♀️

My now 4yo used to hate loud noises, save food in his mouth "for later" according to him, and was terrified of bubbles. He was also painfully shy to the point I suspected selective mutism. But he's absolutely fine now, makes friends easily and grew out of those mentioned oddities.

Small kids and babies can be weird.

hi,

thanks for the reply. Can I ask what his speech was like at around 2.6? DD has lots of words and short sentences but is very unclear at times.
DD is also really shy. They’re funny little creatures these toddlers 🙈

His vocabulary was great for his age. Though I seemed to be the only one who could understand him for a while. I'd even have to translate for his dad. So, objectively, I guess his speech wouldn't have been brilliant.

Though, I now have a second DS who is 13months and I'm getting anxious he's not saying as many words as DS1 was at his age. Tbh, I find the early years quite stressful as it's so unknown what will become of them and the range/pace of development varies hugely when they're so young.
