Sorry for this I’m just a bit of a panicker

i just seen a tik tok of some mum saying what her child could do at 7.5mo. She said she could pull herself to stand, is saying dada and taking and feeds herself

i feel like a shitty mum as DS is 7.5mo and hasnt done them he hasn’t even crawled yet. I mean he knows spoon to mouth but if he tried to do a meal loads of it would go everywhere. I’ve been trying to get him to say mama/dada he laughs at me when I do it’s sweet :)

is he massively behind I always thought he wasn’t but this video has made me think am I not doing enough how come he hasn’t done those things x

First of all get off the bloody TikTok

AliceW89 · 15/08/2022 20:28

Step away from social media. Your child is fine. People can exaggerate/downright lie on social media and nobody is fact checking it. Enjoy your baby.

grufff · 15/08/2022 20:29

Ps I watched this while he’s in bed lol I don’t sit on it in front of him. Yes i probably should just read my book and not sit on social media!!

Anyone who is on tiktok is prone to exaggeration and attention seeking, let alone display their offspring.

SazCat · 15/08/2022 20:31

Bloody hell, my 14 month old can't feed herself with a spoon yet and doesn't really say much that we can understand 😂

Neither of mine crawled until 8 months.

I know it's easy to say, but I really wouldn't worry!

Creepymanonagoatfarm · 15/08/2022 20:34

Ime social media is a crock of shit regarding dc and their apparent talents.

Ime also dc 'achievements' can be a bloody fluke!
My dgc walked at 7.5 months. Completely unaided and whizzing around.
Now that is one goal I would never be aiming for! He was a menace a lot sooner than we would have liked!!
Enjoy YOUR baby op. And stop comparing him.

AliceW89 · 15/08/2022 20:41

Just to put your mind at ease as well, my DS looked staggeringly behind on his 1 year check up. Didn’t crawl/walk/talk/feed himself amongst other things. I was stressed as well compared to my antenatal friends, so I do know where you are coming from.

At 2 he’s now substantially ahead of what’s considered average, especially with his speech and social skills. They really do all develop in their own time.

Sbena · 15/08/2022 20:54

That video is of a baby who is well ahead of the norm. Stop comparing. The "average" baby crawls at 9 months, not 7

SheWoreYellow · 15/08/2022 20:56

Have a look at some ‘proper’ milestones

Mrsmch123 · 15/08/2022 21:08

My 1 year old didn't crawl until he was 11 months old. He can't use a spoon, shovels things in with his hands🙈he can say mum, dad, eyes, ta, chair, no, hiya. He can pull to stand but only recently and isn't walking yet. I'm not worried about him at all. Some babies do things faster than others. Doesn't mean your a shit mum🤷🏻‍♀️No one goes to an interview and they ask when did you start walking/talking ect. Honestly don't worry about it just yet.

Climbingthelaundrymountain · 15/08/2022 21:19

Kids are all totally different! Two of mine weren't crawling at 7.5 months, one was. One of mine was saying words at that age (incidentally is autistic), two weren't talking until much nearer 2.

Don't compare your baby to some random baby on TikTok. His mum is probably talking crap anyway!

Newuser82 · 15/08/2022 21:26

Ok so I have two boys, the first walked at 10 months but didn't talk until 15 months. The other didn't walk until 14 months but has always talked 🙈😂. My first actually has dyspraxia and to be honest still can't walk in a straight line. The second is now three, can run, jump, hop, can ride a scooter and pedal bike with no stabilisers. He is physically much more able than his older brother despite the much later walking. They are all so different and do things in their own time. Don't worry, your son I'm sure is fine and dandy. (Oh and people lie/exaggerate!)
