Baby sleeping periods

My baby is 9 weeks and last night slept from 9-3, woke up for a feed obvipusly ravenous. Was sick everywhere but it didn't seem to bother him at all. He then wanted a bit more.
Went back to sleep about 4 until 9 this morning, had a full feed and seemed really happy. Actually it's the first day ever he's woken up smiling and nit screaming for a bottle. He went back to sleep about 10 and is asleep now.

Does that sound normal? He has no temp. A 6 hour stint followed by 5 hour seems a lot to me for his age but FTM so no clue when they start doing longer stretches.

I'm not complaining as I've literally had the best nights sleep since he was born but wanted to see when others little ones started doing those kinda sleep stretches

At that age, our DD was doing similar. I'd soak it up if I were you!

Things to keep an eye on with tiny babies - full feeds? Plenty of heavy wet nappies? Dirty nappies every day or so? Nice and alert and engaged when awake? Comfortable when laid on their backs? Progressing weight? Fontanelle not sunken, skin looks plump?

If yes to all the above, you're golden.

Enjoy it while it lasts!

Sleep constantly changes and repeated night wakes are normal and natural until well over 2 years old.

Baby sleep isn’t linear, so it won’t just keep getting better and better and stay that way, but instead you’ll have periods of 5/6/7 hour long stretches and others where baby is waking every hour or two.

This is a great article on the reality of baby sleep:

At 9 weeks mine started sleeping 8 hours. at a time. Enjoy it - it's not every night!

Thanks all! Yep he's putting on weight really well, lots of wet and dirty nappies and he seems very happy and alert when he is awake. Fine on his back now -he wasn't for a few weeks but the last 2 absolutely fine. Lots of smiles too! Great to hear it's all normal and I shall enjoy getting the extra sleep (for however long it lasts!!!)

Appreciate all the replies 😊
