How warm are your LOs bedrooms?

We're struggling to find the right temperature. DD tends to get very cold and we end up with grobags and blankets.

What do you do??

Better to be cold and need more covers than too hot and risk problems.

I used Grobags and blankets cos temp was always a bit too low on the guide that came with grobag.

Now dd is in bed with duvet and blanket and extra blanket if it's very cold. As she does not tend to wake from the cold i must be getting it right.

Last night the top blanket was kicked off so I removed it and have to admit to being too warm myself at one point...

BTW we have feckign storage heaters which I hate and there are no heaters in the bedrooms

bubblagirl · 20/01/2008 19:47

my ds always sweats up at night so dont have that problem

do you have timer to set heat off so you could have it come on every few hours

used to put heat on at bedtime to warm room then every few hours through out night

DS (17 months) has the coldest room in the house, we purposely keep it cool as i have a paranoia about him over heating! He has only ever woke up once from being cold. Although we live in a very warm house. hth

DD (3) has one of those thin Ikea quilts and is in LS PJs for winter with vest underneath.

DS (1) is in light gro bag and baby gro / LS Pjs.

Both rooms are central heated with temps around 21 - 22 degress dropping overnight to 18 degrees. (I have a thermometer on the baby monitor!!)

spicemonster · 20/01/2008 19:48

About 20 degrees (the baby monitor has a temp gauge on it). My DS has a grobag and long sleeved body but that's it. Sometimes if it's colder outside and the temp in his room drops to about 17-18 at night, he wears another long sleeve top too.

If he's too cold, he wakes up

We used a 1 tog gro-bag for DS's first year. for the first 6 months the room was about 20 degrees.

In the summer it got up to 27, so no gro-bag.

Now he's 14 months he actually sleeps better in a 2.5tog and a cosy room, 22 degrees.

I used to check the room temperature obsessively when he was little.

Probably too warm for my sweaty pair. One day last week I went to check on DS at my bedtime as normal and he had taken off his pjs and was sleeping naked half sticking out of his rather thin duvet. And DD is usually pretty sweaty at our bedtime. Both have thin duvet and long sleeve pjs and no vest.

PutThatInYourPipeandSmokeIt · 20/01/2008 20:18

Thanks all - tonight it's long sleeved vest, sleepsuit and 2.5 tog and room at 20 degrees. I shall see how that goes and hope to god it helps with the demon nights that we've been having of late!

DS (15 months) has room pretty cold, 14-16 degrees, is in 2.5 tog grobag, pjs, plus lots of blankets...colder the room, the better he sleeps..

Emprexia · 21/01/2008 10:50

DS room varies from 17-20 degrees depending on wether the heating is on or not.

This time of year he sleeps in vest and pyjamas and has a toddler duvet

Thanks everyone - I think we have finally got it sussed. For now!
