Hot tea reminder

I know we are all careful, but i know i get complacent sometimes, but just a reminder to everyone - mind that tea!!!

My cousins wee lad (just under 2) was severely scalded by a cup of tea, all over him, poor wee mite - my mum just phoned me, he is in a specialist burns unit with scalds to his face and back. They dont know if he will be permanently marked or not.

I feel so sorry for his mum, she is a great mum and i can only imagine it was one of those split second accidents, but it makes me shudder.

I hope he'll be ok! I know of a little boy who was badly scalded by tea recently. It's just so easy to make the mistake of leaving your mug of tea in reach, isn't it?

My friends DD was scolded by a cup of tea at my house. my dd was not pulling up yet so never thought about putting tea on low table. I have never felt so bad about anything in my whole life. Always be careful!!!

My mum spoke to his nan today, he is coming out of hospital tomorrow, fingers crossed. He is a little tear away apparently and climbs on everything. His mum hadn't even put the milk in and he managed to use the washing machine door to hoik himself up, so she had even put the cup out of reach!! Totally no ones fault, but must have been terrible, and frankly, could have been much worse

do you find your parents are terrible about this? my mum is always trying to hold my baby when shes drinking tea
[which is pretty much all the time with my mum]

I have heard of a couple of cases where the child or baby has been scalded but has ended up in hosp with hypothermia because of being run under a cold tap for too long to take the sting off the burns.

This happened to my goddaughter last year when she was 2. She had specialist burns care to face, tummy, back & arms. She was in hospital for a few weeks and then had to be kept at home so as not to catch any infections for about 3 months.

There will be some scarring though not as much as first thought.

makes you want to stop drinking hot drinks really doesnt it ?

My dd pulled a cup of tea onto herself. this happened about 3wks after dd2 was born. Complacent as it was on the kitchen table. She pulled out the chair for the first time and climbed up.

Straight under the tap and straight to A&E, no scar and only had to be dressed for 3days.

I felt awful !
