Baby life jacket

I’ve had a quick Google and struggled to find anything for baby life jackets - something for an approx 8kg baby. The only jacket that readily showed was a Baltic pirate jacket at £30-£35. Does anyone know if there’s anything else available on the market please or is this my only option?

Where are you going that you need a life jacket for a baby?

We got one in decathlon for kayaking on a sea fed loch but that was about five years ago. Wasn’t the greatest but if kit but was adequate and it was about £12. 8 year olds was only £20 but he’s sailing now so he gets more expensive second hand ones. You could check if they still do them though.

Thank you @HighlandPony I will have a look 👍🏻
@dementedpixie we have a couple of boat trips coming up and I thought it might be useful to invest in our own little jacket instead of chancing what we’ll be given (due to being so little).

There's a couple of options and advice on Force4. They're a chandlery I've bought from in the past. We have a Plastimo one for our four year old for using on a dinghy, and have also had Crewsaver for on a yacht as they are bulkier.

When we sailed with ours as Babies we didn't use life jackets, we felt it was safer to have the baby in a carrier/sling attached to an adult. So, are you sure it will even be practical to have a LJ for the baby? It's not going to be lying around, surely?

When slightly bigger we got a Crewsaver 2021 Spiral 100N Life Jacket.

Whatever LJ you get go straight to the pool and try it with the baby in it, because it won't hold their head as high out of the water as you'd imagine. Understanding the limitations will help making decisions.

Good luck, fun times ahead.
