First time dad

Hi, I'm a first time dad and do not have any parents as they have passed away. When my daughter was born, it was like a new lease of life for me and I just recently realised that I had to change my job
This was because was the employer was being so inflexible due to having us having no support for our child. Does any dad's feel an overwhelming sense of attachment to their little one's and would want to do school runs and go to playgroups?

My husband does. He took shared parental leave, I went back to work full time at 3m and he took the rest of the year, and then went back part time. We're now on DD2 and he's just finished work to go on SPL again, will be back in 3 days a week in January.

I think this is lovely. A friend of mine and her husband decided she would go back to work. He is a SAHD to their 5yr old daughter and twin 1 year olds.

What has your employer said and what are your DP's thoughts?

My DP goes to playgroups with our daughter- I won't lie they're very 'women only' but he has found a dads group in his area on Facebook so may be worth looking into that

My current employer knows the plight that we are in but they are unwilling for me to put a flexible working request in. Also it doesn't help that in spending near enough 3 hours a day travelling for work and it is quiet while on site.

my husband works compressed hours to do full time fortnight in 9 days (so has one day off every other week) and spends that day taking DD to farms / softplay / parks etc. I do the same but the opposite week so we each have a day with her.

He also does the morning nursery run whenever she goes and will come with me for pick up if he isn’t busy (we live really close and it’s a nice walk)
