So my little angel never did get the newborn memo about sleeping - he gets roughly 11-14 hrs a day(avg 12) and has really since birth. He is very happy when awake/ alert and is just so interested in his surroundings.

He can be awake for maybe 3 /4 hours sometimes (thats the longest) but usually around 2

The GP just shrieked in horror when I told her this. Thing Is I try and try to get him to nap after 1 hr 2 etc but there is no interested. Should I be worried? The GP has panicked me and making me feel a shit mother :( im aware of the wake windows

At night he does 4hr stretches roughly. Day time a nap can be between 15 minutes - 2 hrs but mostly about 20 minutes

Wow!!! 4 hours is a long time for a tiny baby!!! Did he go down for a sleep easily in the end, or did he resist?

If he's going that long and ending up overtired, that's an issue. But if he's drifting off calmly then I don't see a problem.

Doctors can sometimes think anything outside of the norm is "wrong". Some of them you need to take their advice with a pinch of salt

Neither of my little angels got the memo either – 2 hours awake at 2 months would have been perfectly normal for them (and yes, occasionally going 3-4 hours). Fortunately, the health visitors I saw were a great deal more pragmatic than your GP seems to have been and agreed that my happy, alert babies were clearly getting the sleep that was right for them. As he's generally happy in himself, I'd say ignore the GP and follow his wake windows, which just happen to be longer than average.

Thank you lovely! Ge is really alert and such a happy baby. I was actually saying earlier he really doesn't cry much. As you say he is clearly getting enough for him :) x
