Hey everyone currently can't find my DS pacifier and it's hell right now to put him to bed he also can't find his other ones I think this is a sign to get him off it now he's 1yrs old and only really uses them to go to sleep

Any tips pls to get him off

Let ours wean himself off.

He was a sensitive, high needs child and it worked wonders to calm him down when needed.

I did worry a tiny bit now and then, but looking back, he needed it!

He used it (only occasionally by then) until he was 4.

Maybe yours likes the comfort too?

One child lost theirs and it was 2/3 night whinging after that they never asked.

Mine is 3 and he uses it when he needs to unwind or sleep. It helps as he is also high needs and we will stop using it when he wants to stop.

Cut a tiny bit off the end, they won’t get the same sucking satisfaction and will naturally get rid of it. You’re not then the obvious bad guy 😏

My kids went to father Xmas in a swap for presents !

I just stopped replacing them. As soon as he chewed a hole in one it went in the bin until we had none left.

We had previously whittled it down to bedtime only. Then one available in bed but not necessarily used. He mostly feeds to sleep though, so that helped. Not sure how to drop the night feeds without the dummy though, I may have done this in the wrong order 🤔

I bit a hole in it

DD is 22 now, but I think it was a book called The Last Noo Noo. She might have been 4 by then though...

BogdashinaO · 10/08/2022 00:50

It's still available! 🥰😂

I thought you packed them up for the dummy fairy and she/he left a present to say thank you.

Newmumatlast · 10/08/2022 10:29

We tried cutting them and our daughter didn't care. I then took the cold turkey approach. Just told her one night she was such a big girl now she didn't need one. She cried and whinged periodically for 2.5 days and then never mentioned it again.

I just stopped replacing them with all of my kids, sort of stopped gradually.
