How long should last nap of the day be?

Currently I give 4 month old a bottle at round 7pm, she will only contact nap, she has been going to sleep at 7pm downstairs with us but on me, we then dream feed at about 10pm, and she straight back to sleep.

However recently if she goes to sleep at 7pm on me downstairs she only started to sleep for about 1 hour wakes and have to wait until about until 10pm for next bottle before she will sleep again, during them 2 hours she will be yappy but not crying.

Has this happened anyone else?

I always make sure her last nap doesn't go past 5pm, sometimes awake window of maybe 2.5 to 3 hours before her 7pm feed

Any advice of kind words of wisdom

My DSis has a 4 month old and she’s on 4 naps a day. The last nap is only half an hour.

I'd be tempted to send DH (if you have one) out for a walk with her after she wakes at 8pm and see if she'll go back off in the pram.

Iv been tempted to do that, but she only sleeps for about 30 mins in the pram, so if she wakes at 8.30 from the pram I feel she won't be tired enough then to go back to sleep at 10pm and will be up later at night with her before she gets tired again

We had this from about 4m until v recently. 7pm cat nap and then 10pm bedtime. I tried making sure the last nap finished before 4pm, but it didn't make any difference. We just rolled with it til about 5.5m and then I got militant about a 2nap routine with last nap finishing at 4 and 7pm bedtime. Has so far worked pretty well.

I have a 4 month old I try not to let him nap past 6.30/7 (ideal if he has 30 mins around 6ish) then upstairs for bath/pjs at 8.30, feed and asleep for 9. He goes into his bedside crib and we use the monitor for an hour till we go to bed at 10 (also going up to check on him every 15 mins or so).

i know so many people idolise the 7pm bedtime but to be honest DH would never see him if he went to bed at 7 and I believe at 4 months it’s 10-11 hours of overnight sleep roughly (including wakes for feeds). Baby is usually in his bed 9pm - 7am. Then we have 3-4 naps during the day usually depending how it goes.

if your baby can sleep 7 till 6/7am great but if not maybe push bedtime till 8 or 9 and drop the dream feed. I’ve never really done a dream feed but I think you’re supposed to stop because if you’re always waking them to eat at 10pm then they will get used to that and always then want to wake to eat then. I’d try a later bedtime with no dream feed and see how long baby sleeps for you might be surprised.
