Hi, I hope this is the right place for a question like this.
My son is 6.5 and up until very recently has only loved to be read to, and pretty much hated to read himself (important to note, however, that's he's a brilliant reader- his teacher says he's fluent and I quite agree. Still he was saying it was too hard a job to read).
Then, a month ago or so, he discovered Horrid Henry and everything has changed, it's like a switch has flicked in him. He adores these books. Of course, I immediately bought the whole set of 30 books which he has almost completely read all by himself, a few times a day, without being asked, giggling away. There's very few books to go and I can see that they have given him an insight into a pleasure of reading, and I really want to keep momentum going. So, here comes a difficult question- if he adores Horrid Henry, what else might he like? Worth mentioning that "The diary of whimpy kid" and "The 138 storey treehouse" didn't impress him, nor did Flat Stanley. I think he still needs something a tad simpler than that. And it has to be absolutely, utterly hilarious, even silly (yes, he has that kind of humour!). Any suggestions please? I want to be ready for when he tells me he's done with Henry 😂. Thanks x
