Slow burning chickenpox?

My son has what I have assumed is chickenpox. He first came up with a about 6 spots on Monday and the GP confirmed it looked like the start of chickenpox.

Since then I've gotten everything prepared, piriton, calamine etc.. waiting for them to start springing up! But (thankfully obviously) it really doesn't seem to be bad at all. So far since Monday he's gotten about 3 more spots. None of them seem to be bothering him, no itching, no grumpiness. My husband's unconvinced that it's chickenpox at all.

Can I get my hopes up yet that it's a mild case do you think? Or is it normal for there to be barely any spots for days before they suddenly get worse?

Chickenpox varies from child to child. One of my DC had about 10 spots in total; the other was very poorly and had a lot more!

Thanks.

I guess I'm wondering if he was going to get it bad, would it likely have happened by now do you think?

Interesting you have posted as my son also had a few chicken pox spots appear on Sunday, no more have appeared. He's been cranky but no temperature. It's not hand ,foot and mouth and they are not bites, so I'm assuming it's been a mild case of chicken pox. People are advising it is possible to have it with only a few spots, or alternatively, be completely covered!
