Milk allergy. Can’t cope anymore

DS is 16 weeks old. Diagnosed with CMPA & on omeprozole and gaviscon. Tried multiple milks, nothing worked.

finally started Neocate. Everything changed. DS stopped being sick. Reflux stopped (still continued medication). He was a happy baby, didn’t want to be held much, loved just rolling around in the floor and being content. Didn’t want to be rocked to sleep, just wanted to be put down and went to sleep himself.

it’s been 3 weeks on neocate and in the last week things have gradually gone backwards. Started vomiting 1 feed a day… to now just vomiting all the time again, from when he has a feed for the next hour or so. Not settling unless he’s held again.

im at my wits end. I finally felt confident to go out with him because he wasn’t screaming or vomiting. Now it’s all come back.

I am experiencing a very similar situation as you. Nightmare feeding from birth. fought hard for months to be listened to by doctors. Tried many formulas including Nutramigen and puramino. Finally diagnosed and confirmed cmpa and on neocate at 18 weeks old. Was doing great until the last few weeks where he sicks up constantly and it can even be 2 hours after a feed.
It’s really got me down and I stress a lot about feeding anyway to now have this on top.
However, I don’t think it’s the neocate.
we noticed with our lo, the gaviscon was finally catching up with him (he’d been on it since 10 days old) and causing constipation so we took him off it and poos are so much better sometimes we don’t even know he’s done one he’s that quiet!
Also the feeding team we’re under at Alder Hey hospital said omeprazole causes tummy discomfort the higher dose you go and it’s a fine balance between helping the reflux pain and dealing with tummy discomfort.
We’ve noticed he doesn’t cry when he brings up milk now or arches his back so they have advised us to start weaning him off the omeprazole to see if that helps his tummy.
Lastly we noticed these changes at a similar age as you did and I’m actually starting to think the increase in sick is just down to him being more active and rolling more. They do say reflux peaks at 4-5 months so I think it might be that and because the neocate is so thin it’s hard to keep it down.
He’s also so much more aware of the world and incredibly nosy so we find it much harder to get him to nap now. Like you we could literally pop him in the cot and off he went but now it can be a real fight. I think this is a developmental thing and not related to feeding at all but it makes him seem very unsettled and unfortunately it’s all timed with the same time we started him on neocate so it’s hard not to think it’s that but I really don’t see how it can be. There’s no milk protein, no soy oil, no fish oil, no palm oil in neocate. There’s literally nothing I can see that would contribute to him being unsettled so think it’s all these other things combined.
Do you think any of this seems similar to your baby?

Is he constipated?
