I am writing an Essay at the moment;
The title is:
How important are communication skills in modern nursing?

Well, do I actually need to put that question into the actual introduction?

My introduction, as it is right now is as follows:

Communication is a major part of everyday life and it is something that people do in some way or another almost constantly. This essay will define the different components of communication and then explore the effect of difficulties in verbal communication skills. Furthermore a closer look will be taken at possible issues and their impact on non-verbal communication. Then different communication approaches within nursing will be identified and in addition to that their impact on care and patient welfare will be examined. Before coming to a conclusion the influence of task-centred communication and the effect on the perception of the nursing profession will be considered.

maybe you could include something about the building up of trust and rapport needs to built up by creating an empathic relationship before any professional / client exchange can take place. .. therefore communication both verbal and non-verbal is imperative.

3andnomore · 19/01/2008 19:15

Cosima that sounds well clever
in the actual essay I do have emphazise the importance of trust that build through patient- centred communication

There is a writing trick that works very well. Always follow a long sentence by a short one. It makes any block of text very much easier to read, no matter what it says.

BBBee · 20/01/2008 19:37

3andno - my virus protection is making a fuss as I don;t 'know' you - will ask DP.

3andnomore · 20/01/2008 19:53
