Keeping toddler entertained on the plane

Hi,

Going away next week for the first time with my son who’s 20 months old.

Stressing about how to keep him entertained on the plane.

So far I have:

Small tub of playdoh
Etch a sketch
Sticker book
Pack of post it notes
Lots of snacks

Will this be enough? Any other ideas?

Thanks!

How long is the flight?
Movies on ipad/phone
Don't let them nap before the flight and hopefully they will sleep
Teddy
Something for the ear blocking

Fidget spinners that stick to the window
iPad with games / tv they like
Busy board / books
Wrap up some of the new toys so that takes a little bit of time

Plenty of snacks as you say

We're doing our first flight with our 2 year 2 month (at the time) in sept to Florida and I'm dreading it!

Take a roll of masking tape. Stick strips of it on the plane window (if toddler can have the window seat) or the fold down tray. Little ones love peeling it off and sticking it back down. You can also use it to make 'roads' on the floor at your accommodation for them to push toy cars along.

If it's that short you'll be fine! I just did 2x 12 hour flights with toddler DS by myself and pregnant and that was fucking horrific.

Basically snacks and iPad and you'll be golden!

Simone told me they handed their toddler an actual roll of tape on the plane. ( paper masking tape type) And their LO was fascinated with just unrolling, sticking , peeling , tearing for ages and ages. It doesn't matter where they stick it it'll come off . You can buy them in different colours in HobbyCraft.

Was also going to take a notepad and some pencils but I don’t fancy spending most the flight picking pencils off the floor!

I think a HobbyCraft trip is in order! Literally live round the corner from one.

We used to play ' what's in the bag?'. I would wrap up little toys, some new from the £ shop, some from home, snacks, crayons, stickers all sorts & put them in a drawstring bag. When ever they got restless ' what's in the bag'? (In the style of a 70's gameshow host😁).

Crayons and colouring book, reading books. Had no gadgets when mine were small but they did watch the screen built into the seat for about 5 minutes (back the BA had teletubbies on repeat!) We flew long haul a few times a year mostly just me and kids from birth never was a problem. I booked bassinets up to 2 then took car seats on board

This is my experience too of pens on a plane. We picked up one of those water colouring pads though and that was much better - just one pen and could just use fingers dipped in a bottle of water if it got lost.
