Can the witching hour happen in afternoon?

looking for advice really please!

my DS is 2.5 weeks old and for the past few days, he is doing this thing where he cries/screams after his bottle of formula around 11am ish until about 2/3pm ish. Nothing comforts him in this time frame. I’ve tried feeding again, rocking him in my arms, lying him on my chest, winding him. He just cries and cries on and off for no reason, and it does go to screaming as well eventually. Then he will eventually tire himself out and then sleep on my chest whilst I’m lying on the sofa.

could this be the the witching hour but in the afternoon? Really struggling with this mentally. It’s so overwhelming

ooo - sounds like colic to me. Never heard it called the witching hour and as I understand it, colic can happen at anytime. I was just grateful in the end it was at a vaguely sociable time and not at 2am.

DD would starting crying about 5.30pm and stop by about 11pm - heart wrenching crying, inconsolable. Tried everything and basically nothing worked.
Sorry I can't give you something more positive. The phase doesn't last long

OP: I don’t know the answer to your question, but I have heard other parents talk about the witching hour (when kids get overtired and cranky, usually late afternoon/early evening)
