What are some good apps I can download with educational games? Either free or not too expensive. Thanks!

Your child doesn't need any educational apps at age 4. If you're wanting to prepare them for school then it is much, MUCH more valuable to work on fine motor skills and hand strength, threading activities, sorting, counting, playdough etc etc, as well as practical skills like shoes and socks, hair tying, basic self care etc. With the advent of screens for kids being de rigeur, so many children turn up at school with great letter recognition and so on, but without the strength, stamina and dexterity required to actually write properly!

Ah yes it was for school prep, we do alphabet and number puzzles together but was suddenly feeling a bit worried that I hadn't prepared her with enough educational reading and writing activities. We do lots of activities like you have already mentioned though so that makes me feel better

Ignoring posters above (sometimes you need some digital distraction and a good edu app is always preferred)

Teach Your Monster To Read is brilliant, and narrated by Simon Farnaby.

4-5 year old DS would use it as a treat during the lockdowns

Thank you for the recommendation @Photosymphysis ☺️

The numberblocka and alphablocks ones. Not sure if they're completely free but certainly not expensive

Pattern tracing is really good for bringing on writing control skills.

Loads of reading

'Spotting' activities for observation

Cooking together and talking about it brings both maths and social skills

Teaching self-management like dressing, toileting, table skills will also go a long way in school.
