Concerned DS and I have lost our bond

When I drop DS (19 months) off at nursery he holds his arms out to the nursery staff and goes off with them without a second glance. When I pick him up, he cries and doesn’t want to go with me.

This wasn’t the case once: he’d cry when I dropped him off and run/crawl to me in delight when I collected him. Just a bit worried it isn’t quite right for a child this age to not want to be with main carer?

My DD used to do this when she went to nursery at that age and I remember feeling quite upset at the time. I think it's simply because after a busy day at nursery they are overwhelmed when they see you again. It doesn't mean that they don't want to be with you.

I really hope so! Thank you, you have put my mind at rest.

Children going to nursery/childcare at a young age form attachments with their carer- whoever that is. When he spends so much time with them and has fun with them he'll form a good bond and be excited to see them. When you pick him up he's not thinking that he doesn't want to see you, he just doesn't want to leave them

It's a good thing. He has settled well and has bonded with his carer at nursery. I hope my little one will get to That stage at some point too..

It doesn't mean he doesn't want to see you but that he was having a nice time and wants that to continue. If he could express himself and you asked him where he'd want to stay full time I'm sure it will be at home with you.
